Many people dye their dog’s fur, paint its nails, or put jewelry on it.
Some people even dress up their cats. Is it wrong?
January 14, 2015 1:37 pm at 1:37 pm #1064007TheGoqParticipantAs long as its znius it’s ok some of these outfits don’t even go all the way down to the paw!
January 14, 2015 6:19 pm at 6:19 pm #1064008Chochom-ibberParticipantIts cruel NOT to decorate certain people.
January 14, 2015 7:34 pm at 7:34 pm #1064009🐵 ⌨ GamanitParticipantIt depends on the animal. A lazy cat usually doesn’t mind being dressed, but a more active one can be very irritated. If the animal is in pain then it’s assur.
January 14, 2015 8:02 pm at 8:02 pm #1064010nfgo3MemberSpray painting is assur. Pants for males, dresses for females is tznius.

January 15, 2015 3:04 am at 3:04 am #1064012WiseyParticipantI don’t understand the question. Does the dog care what color its fur is?
January 15, 2015 4:13 am at 4:13 am #1064013👑RebYidd23ParticipantIt might care. But they can’t speak English. (Or maybe they do speak English and we humans can’t and only think we can.)
January 15, 2015 4:30 pm at 4:30 pm #1064014WiseyParticipantDoes anyone here speak Doggish?
March 10, 2015 1:45 am at 1:45 am #1064015147ParticipantIs it cruel to decorate animals? It is a waste of time & money. If you have nothing to do with your money, turn it over to Kimcha dePisscha instead of stupid color paint on the animal.

The same can be said of nail polish, matching socks, jewelry for humans, cosmetics for humans, matching outfits for all the children, sheitels, Borsalinos, shtreimels, embroidery, lace, paint, extra shoes and paintings.
March 10, 2015 5:08 pm at 5:08 pm #1064017cherrybimParticipantThere is special makeup with hashgacha that allows someone to apply it on their animals on Shabbos. But most poskim don’t hold by it so ask your Rav first. Let me know what he says.
March 12, 2015 6:48 pm at 6:48 pm #1064018NeutiquamErroParticipantMy house is decorated with dead cats. Can’t see any problem with that.
March 12, 2015 9:22 pm at 9:22 pm #1064019👑RebYidd23ParticipantIn your case you are not decorating animals, you are decorating using animals.
March 13, 2015 8:51 am at 8:51 am #1064020the plumberMemberIdk but i dresses my dog up for purim. It was so cute in its batman outfit. The problem was that his ears were getting in the way of the mask. So i just cut them off.
March 13, 2015 8:50 pm at 8:50 pm #1064021☢️ Rand0m3x 🎲ParticipantThere actually was an “Ace the Bat-Hound” character in
50s-60s Batman. His mask had holes in it.
