And more specifically, did use of YWN+/CR go down after the Big Event and/or follow-up events?

Im not sure what part of the world you are from.

But thousands of jews are currently under major threat.

How foolish is it to discuss straw hats, famous mosquitos or walk around with a hat and jacket.

So is there less activity you asking? Not necessarily, but hopefully people like you will get their heads screwd on in the right direction very soon

There is nothing wrong with discussing famous mosquitoes. Stopping the discussion of famous mosquitoes would not improve the situation in the slightest. And I don’t know about you, but my head faces in the same direction as I walk. Maybe yours isn’t, but that doesn’t mean people like you should expect everyone else to change their head’s orientation to match yours.

Yes:- Because every time the siren goes off, we dash to the cellar, and there is no internet connection in the cellar, but we must protect our lives from the vicious Hamas, whom even the other Arab factions are sick & tired of them.

You must be walking backwards. Because yes – You can have positive thoughts, discuss a halachic matter or post a tehillim list.

FYI, this will help the situation. even slightest.

That said you or many more might be doing this already. This thread belongs to the many bored and sickly around here that only feel that can be expressed under a hidden name.

and find it pressing to discuss mosquitoes instead of miracles at time of war and destruction.

h_e- yes there’s a war going on. Yes there are yidden being killed. Yes there are always yidden sick, in need of refuos, and yeshuos. Yes people are in tzaar, and not just re the war. That doesnt stop life. People still need to make supper. People still take their kids out on sunday. People still get mosquito bites. Some people still have to go through their regular daily schedule. Some people still come here for their kosher break. Some people still need downtime to unwind. Perhaps some from completing sefer tehillim for the matziv? You yourself are on here instead of collecting tzedaka or davening, and hey, as far as i’m concerned none of my business and who am i to know who u are, whats going on in ur life, what u’ve done today for zchusim or for yourself. If s/o innocently wonders aloud whether its quieter here, why not? Perhaps s/he didnt even mean in the past 4 wks but rathertthe past year. Why judge? Let’s be dan lkaf zchus. That too is part of the achdus the rabbonim are asking us all to work on, is it not? Lets all try to keep all loshon hora, putting down of others, unappreciated mussar, and negativity down, no? Good for you for having the matziv on your mind. But we dont know that another does or doesnt so… Positive energy, positive words. Thank all for listening 🙂

Thanks to you SaysMe, for justifying my existence.

And yes, it has become so much quieter here since mods started to delete three quarters of my “valuable” input. Imagine if they were let out…

Yes, I am walking backwards. But every part of my body is backwards, so I walk in the way in which my head and feet face. And I was not the first to insult the position of someone’s head.

It’s a good thing it’s quieter here than it used to be. This way I don’t feel like I’m missing out that much when I’m not here.

    #1024174

Ha! You don’t know what you’re missing.. (neither do I)

Get the timeline straight. The Big Event was cancelled in February of 2008 (http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/news/general/14875/exclusive-lipa-schmeltzer-backs-out-of-big-event-concert.html) but the coffeeroom only opened in June of 2008.

LOL. I meant the Citi Field asifa. (I guess capitalizing “Big Event” was a misstep.) Still, it is hard to see why anyone would think I thought a cancelled concert might mean less Internet use. And were there “follow-up events” to that? I don’t know.

Listen, some people come here to get a break.

You are saying the world is upside down and because of that, we are wasting time here discussing irrelevant matters.

So, it’s the same thing as talking about irrelevant matters like this on the phone, or chilling out, or watching movies.

Why do people do those other things? Because just as the world we live in is upside down, so our many people’s inner worlds (not everyone’s is upside down 24/7, I mean by that that everything is crazy, or they have nisyonos like every person, some people have really crazy ones)

And part of our tafkid is to DO our tafkid, without becoming insane (unless that is your tafkid) So to complete our tafkid, some people need to relax in life.

I see your opinion, it’s very nice, maybe you need to relax less than others, but many people who come here (not everyone! Don’t get offended) are going thru something and this is an outlet.

Maybe they discuss the important matters in life, with people in their lives, not random people on the web that they ussually go to when they are in a bad mood and want to pretend they aren’t.

I respect your opinion, but don’t go pushing it on others too much or pointing fingers.

And in my opinion it’s quieter, cuz many people instead of being here are saying tehilim and other stuff, which is amazing, and I wish I could do that. Ans other people like Hashem_echad have more important stuff to do, like their tafkid and don’t need or feel a pull to be here (or are just fighting that pull)
