Try to keep to 2 meals a day. A nice big breakfast, and a nice big supper very late, so you will fall asleep on a nice full stomach, and not snack before bedtime.

Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. No soda, reg or diet. Just dilute orange juice for supper; low-fat milk for breakfast.

Is your BMI in check? Then don’t worry about it.

Chances are, you went overseas a “child” and came back an “adult” (the 12 months at the later end of the teen window are very defining.)

Worry and what it does to your body from a chemistry angle is also a big obstacle in weight loss. Relax, and with the arrival of the warmer weather, you should be fine.

If you were a ‘very skinny girl’ add 15 pounds to that you should be ‘skinny’ now.

    Stop dieting and start living!

Find something else to concentrate on? (I started to do it but only after healthy living came to a point of habit that I didn’t have to pay as much attention to it-and no I haven’t lost much anything except my inability to function (run, jog, bike, etc) properly)

I feel the same. I used to be stick thin (hated it at that point) and then I gained some weight. According to everyone besides me I’m still thin but don’t feel comfortable. Exercise has always helped me relieve some stress…see if exercising religously helps you.

    Good luck!

if its really bugging you, make an appointment with a dietitian. if your relatively thin and are just trying to lose those last stubborn pounds, it shouldn’t take so long, as long as you stick to your diet plan seriously, + exercise. its usually between $100-$200, depending on where you live, and its a worthwhile investment, since it saves you all that agmas nefesh, time and energy trying to do it yourself and not really getting anywhere. some even accept insurance.

Don’t obsess over it. Start enjoying life. I am not putting down your question, C”V, but your weight B”H is normal. Its not like you need to make major medical decisions to solve it, B”H. Spring will be here soon ( can’t wait ) and then you’ll do some walking around the block. Just remember to eat healthy foods. Diets never

work. If you want to gain wait, then the way to do is is to go on a diet. Also, I keep hearing that it is much healthier to eat 6 small meals a day instead of 3 ones. Good lucK.

My situation is totally different than yours, but I am seeing a doctor/nutritionist team and recently lost over 20 pounds using their recommendations. The doctor told me that I should eat WHEN I AM HUNGRY. He said that when I’m hungry my body will utilize the calories, but if I eat when I’m not hungry, the body says “what’s this? I’m not hungry” and STORES it. So that’s what I’ve been doing. They suggested I not eat specific meals, but eat when hungry, and to stop when I am satisfied. Also, it is important to exercise (duh). They explained that weight loss without exercise can lead to weakening of all muscles, including heart muscle, therefore, I MUST exercise to maintain as well as strengthen my heart (and other) muscle. I have been steadily losing weight, but more than that, I have been losing inches. I am a nurse for over 20 years, and a grandmother, (you can start to guess my age…) and have dieted many times in my life, but this has been the simplest and most satisfying way. I feel great! Hatzlocho to you!

I’ve tried several diets but I’m not disciplined enough to stick to it. B”H if I really decide to lose weight and don’t eat much for a few days I lose a lot.

I thought about going to a nutritionist but I don’t think I would end up listening. My problem is I know what I have to do…I just don’t.

I agree with eating when you are hungry. Eat breakfast as late in the day as you can, maybe on your desk at work. Then skip lunch (you won’t be hungry anyway). Eat supper as late as possible when you are really hungry, and then you go to bed satiated.

For breakfast high protein is best. Maybe fish sandwiches. Note tuna may have too much mercury for daily use, but look into gefilte fish, or fish stick sandwiches. In general, protein keeps you the fullest the longest. Try to avoid sweets, except for maybe a very light dessert. Eat fruits and veggies. Bananas are very filling. Avoid snacks. Try to let your apostat guide you. Never eat when you are not hungry, no matter how delicious the food looks.

if you ralized that you dont really have anthing to lose and its just a problem of stress, go see a psycologist

but if you really feel like you need to diet try weight watchers. its a really good diet. it allows you to eat all types of food even junk but in limited amounts. i lost 20 lbs in a month on weight watchers but i really stuck to it. if you really want to lose weight you cant cheat. ever.

Everybody knows that if you take in less calories then you burn you WILL lose weight – everything else is hype – so you gotta find YOUR hype…..

    Basic well known tips

‘Scribble when you Nibble’ ‘Write when you Bite’

Keep a record of everything you eat – knowing that you will have to write it down, din v’cheshbon at the end of the day – is a ‘hold off’

Find your best exercise time and keep it religiously – have the music, have the clothes readily available because everybody will find every excuse for not exercising – so make it as hard to get out of as possible – a buddy is the best if you are both equally committed.

Drink water – Prepare water bottles, and make sure you drink them – drink before a meal, drink when you feel like snacking….

Get rid of the NOSH – whatever your weak point is cake/potato chips-don’t let it into the house ASSUR-if it’s there you will eat it. if you have to have it-(for the kids, for the grandkids, for the geshikt criteria you torture yourself with) triple wrap, put it your furthest place in the freezer (preferably,in your neighbor’s freezer) pick a type you hate,(garlic, sour, mexican,u get the point)

Keep your metabolism going-if you have a 5 min break- run in place

walk while you’re schmoozing on the phone-kickbox while you’re waiting for the microwave- stretch while you clean……

Good Luck – You are SO NOT ALONE!

Twiggy, in that case there is another diet you can try. It is called the All Entenmann’s All The Time diet. You must commit to eating 3 solid meals a day of Entenmann’s. In the morning you can have apple pie. For lunch a box or two of donuts, doesn’t matter which type. For dinner, brownies, cookies and cake, 2 boxes of each. One box can be choc chip, and the other butter cookies with choc coating. The cake may be the banana crunch with choc frosting, or the marshmellow iced devil’s food cake. For dessert, you can have a pumpkin pie or two.

This is the most effective weight-loss diet ever.

I now know that Pashuteh Yid is saying a whole bunch of meshugasim once I read the most recent post. And FYI, eating breakfast late in the morning and a late dinner as well is one of the worst things you can do to yourself.

    To prove my point:

    http://www.htsti.com/?q=eating+late+breakfast+slows+metabolism

Try a HEALTHY diet like Weight Watchers. Their new Points Plus Plan is really great and I’m finding a lot of success with it.

L613, First, I never advocated eating more than 2-3 boxes of Entenmann’s donuts in one sitting. One should not overdo any diet. I would not go over 24 large donuts maximum in one shot.

But as far as eating only 2 meals a day, I believe that is a good thing. One therefore needs to space them so you get maximum benefit.

    Do what works for you.

I eat 5 small meals a day. I just lost a significant amount of weight B”H.

Sound like a scene out of Gadi Pollak’s ‘End Of The Story’ – a girl watering her plants and waiting nearby impatiently for it to grow “NU!?! It’s not growing!?!”
