And so, some on this blog would have us believe that the Jan 6 insurrection was merely a walk in the park, verily a picnic with just a few rowdy boys.
Obviously they didn’t watch t.v. that day in which our wonderful democracy almost was lost.
I say to these bloggers, that the Titanic was not the premier ship of its time, but merely a rowboat that happened to hit an icecube

Well, since nobody here ever said or insinuated such a thing I guess your whole premise is wrong.
    Bummer.

Maybe you should be spending less time in front of your tv

    No one said that

Sure. American democracy was almost lost by thigs breaking into the capital. There was a real chance that they were going to install a new government. I’m so glad it didn’t happen and so terrified it will happen again.

January 6 was not nearly as bad as the Far Left media and Democrats falsely portray it. It was a mildly violent protest and trespassing by a relatively small group.

BLM/Antifa riots was far more than 100x worse.

This is the exact reason to listen to the January 6th commission.
You will never understand that the riot was a part of the coordinated overthrow of the legally elected president.
The riot needs to be understood in context and Trump knew it but his sacrifices didn’t.

1)If the republican states can legally decide on their own which slate of electors to send , our democracy is over.
    2) If Trump’s VP can legally decide which votes to count, our democracy is over.
    3) His pressure on Pence to not certify Biden’s electoral votes
    4) The 174 traitors in the republican party that voted on January 6th (after the riots) to overturn the election results.

The background of Trump’s phone calls to find votes and lawsuits to cancel election results.

You must also differentiate between the 100% fully legal and appropriate First Amendment protected political rally held by the President and thousands of patriotic Americans on January 6th from the small number of agitators who trespassed into the Capital building and damaged property (and led others to unwittingly trespass since the police didn’t stop them from entering restricted parts of the building.)

During the BLM/Antifa riots you had violent Far Left thugs attacking police, killing innocent people and police officers, burning down buildings and causing tens of billions of dollars in damages nationwide, mostly in deep blue Big Cities. This occurred over a period of many months.

On January 6 you had a small number of agitators take advantage of a peaceful political rally to trespass and damage some property in one government building over a period of about three hours.

Which is the above two incidents is far worse, any rational person can easily answer.

    >>>4) The 174 traitors in the republican party that voted on January 6th (after the riots) to overturn the election results.

As if two of the most vocal members of the January 6th commission (Jamie Raskin & Bennie Thomspn ) didn’t try to do the exact same thing in 2016 not to certify Trump.

As is another member of the commission Adam Schff didn’t spend years trying to get rid of Trump by telling us baseless false claims that he had proof of Russian collusion and election fraud resulting in Trump getting elected. And Trump probably really deluded himself into thinking he won the election. Adam Schiff for all his self righteousness probably realized that he was lying when he claimed to have evidence of Russian interference in the 2016 elections

Even if I were capable of believing everything the January 6 commission is saying is true it wouldn’t change the fact that the Democrats spent years engaging in very similar behavior to get rid of Trump. It is only being viewed as a threat to democracy now becuae the other side allegedly did it.

From what I’ve seen in the videos it wasn’t a small group of agitators trespassing but a horde of over 1000 people breaking into the Capital beating police officers, vandalizing offices, defecating and urinating in the halls while looking to harm Mike Pence and Nancy Pelosi. Evidence revealed last week shows that there was a planned and coordinated attack by several hundred members of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers with weapons, bear spray and zip ties. The only question remaining is who planned the attack and for what purpose.

ujm – to answer your question: it is far worse to try to overthrow the govt.
as for your ‘small number of agitators’, you are obviously one of those who never watched the actual horrific insurrection – over 3 hours, while your president watched, snacked, and did nothing (but probably kvelled ( I take that back, he DID kvell)

    Jack and moishe
You just had the attempted assassination of a Supreme Court justice, egged on by past threats by Chuck Schumer and the illegal protests in front of his house. Our AG ( and thank Hashem Garland is not on the Supreme Ciurt ) has refused to arrest them, even after the attempted assassination, and Pelosi has been sitting on bill expanding their protection.

BTW , the liberal Democratic media ( i.e. the Times) gave virtually no coverage to the assassination attempt. My local paper buried on page 7. Had this occurred to one of the left wing justices, there would have been screaming headlines

    AJ,

Did you even do basic research into the motivations of Roske? Or into the circumstances of his attempted “assassination”?

Do you judge everything by the NY Times Paper Edition? Or your local newspaper whatever that is ?

Did you follow up and see if there were further updates ?

Did you know that there were 2 deputy marshals in front of Kavanaugh’s house?

Did you know that Roske called the Montgomery County Emergency Communications Center and said he was having suicidal thoughts and had a firearm in his suitcase ?

Did you know that Roske believed the justice that he intended to kill would side with Second Amendment decisions that would loosen gun control laws ?

Do you know that it is not illegal to protest in front of SCOTUS’s house?

    Jack,
Do you know it is illegal? Title 18 Section 1507 of the US CODE states:
It is illegal with the intent to influencing any judge to picket or parade in or near a residence occupied or used by such judge or to resort to any other demonstration in or near any such building or residence.
Legal experts , including those of the Washington Post ,agree that the protests fall.under the laws definition of illegal activities.

Jack, you’re attempts to minimize the crime, including putting assassination in quotation marks, simply proves my point.

Under what law are protests illegal outside a Justice’s home?
The young man arrested clearly has issues but there is no way to prevent him from buting a gun in most states.

“ujm – to answer your question: it is far worse to try to overthrow the govt.”

moish: No one seriously tried to overthrow the government or had any dreams of such a thing by trespassing into the Capital building. The overdramatization and hyperbole employed by Democrats and their State media (NBC CBS ABC CNN NYT WaPo etc) are just that.

I think Jack would applaud (probably quietly) if a conservative justice (or preferably to him, multiple) was assassinated. Especially if Biden got to replace him (or them.)

what proof do you have otherwise? we all , and I mean, all of America, saw live what happened that day

moish — No, they didn’t. Breaking a few windows, dressing like clowns and yelling like hyenas to hang Pence aren’t the hallmarks of a coup. They’re examples of idiocy with no particular goals other than to get 15 minutes of fame.

The cat mashel, attributed to the Rambam, comes to mind where a minister teaches a cat of how to eat with a knife and fork. Another minister hides a mouse in his pocket. At the test, he releases the mouse and the cat forget all its teachings and runs after the mouse. When people have an opportunity to riot, they forget all their civility as it was done by the blackout looting.
