I have recently become unemployed and I know a number of people who are too. While looking for jobs, I thought maybe there are Jews in my community or in the community at large that could help us out. Do you think it’s awkward to go over to businessmen and ask them to help you find a job simply because both of you are Jewish?? I feel we have the upper hand in finding jobs because of our common factor in being jewish and Jews should help each other out. Let me know if this makes any sense.

as well as other threads, you can see why someone would specificly NOT look to hire frum individuals.
I know a frum business woman who tried not to hire frum women. From her experience, they were just not reliable (whether taking off for a siddur play or a week before pesach to clean is justified or not, those were the facts).
September 12, 2011 9:17 pm at 9:17 pm #809051charlie brownMembergavra,
but isn’t it at all possible that giving parnassa to a yid will bring enough extra bracha to make up for these inconveniences?
Also, I don’t understand why you would want to be in the position of persuading anyone who reads your post not to hire frum people. I would think that potentially being a cause of another yid not getting a job would not be a great idea right before the yemei hadin when we all ask for a year of parnassa.
September 12, 2011 9:41 pm at 9:41 pm #809052Queen BeeMemberI find it a little sad that a frum woman would rather hire non-Jews than Jews who really need jobs (to work for a FRUM boss is so beneficial). At my old job, my boss was a goy and he specifically let the frum women go home early due to the kids, household issues, school functions, or for yomim tovim.
But I don’t know the situation, so I can’t judge.

September 12, 2011 10:30 pm at 10:30 pm #8090542qwertyParticipantI was thinking of starting a businessmans club. Where unemployed guys get together to discuss business ideas and retired businessman give them chizuk and guidance.
Would anyone be interested in this?

September 12, 2011 11:59 pm at 11:59 pm #809058☕️coffee addictParticipantCshapiro,
Would they want entry level?
September 13, 2011 12:10 am at 12:10 am #809059gavra_at_workParticipantcharlie: I agree that giving the Yid Parnassah is well worth the inconvenience.
However, I will suggest (which was the point) that people should not look to specifically work in only frum places. If you do (and even if you don’t), don’t take advantage. It may backfire, both on you and others that will not follow.

September 13, 2011 1:51 am at 1:51 am #809064zahavasdadParticipantMy boss does not like hiring frum people either because what if he has to fire them (It really happend, I suggested someone for a job and he deserved to get fired)
If he has to fire someone, he would rather fire a puerto rican than a jew (We are talking about someone who deserved to be fired, which this individual deserverd to be)
September 13, 2011 2:21 am at 2:21 am #809065☕️coffee addictParticipantDISCRIMINATION jk 🙂
September 13, 2011 2:33 am at 2:33 am #809066estie1Membercshapiro, are they really looking to hire a replacement?
September 13, 2011 4:45 am at 4:45 am #8090672qwertyParticipantZ,
That’s really messed up logic. He doesn’t want to feel bad about firing Jews so he’d rather not hire them?
September 13, 2011 5:03 am at 5:03 am #809068cshapiroMemberwe are located in park slope brooklyn, we called machcone lparnasa, touro and agudah to find someone….so if ur interested call one of those places (the first or last would make most sense if ur not a student at touro) and we would love to set up an interview…the position is best suited for a CPA major/accounting student…
September 13, 2011 4:04 pm at 4:04 pm #809069charlie brownMembergavra,
