I’ve enjoyed eating kabukim since learning in yeshiva in Israel. Just last week while eating some, we noticed that it says on the back of the packet that they need checking before use. This is something that I’ve never noticed before.
The question is whether this is really so, and if yes is it at all practical with kabukim? I have always learned that good quality peanuts may be eaten without opening while cheaper ones are better to be opened. Some are makpid to open all nuts before eating.
What quality of nuts are used in kabukim? It could vary. But if they do need checking then I’m thru with them cos they’re not really openable, are they? I tried but the outer coating just crumbles into tiny pieces. They’re meant to be popped into the mouth whole.
What do you do?

I’ve never seen anyone do this. Garenim are generally bitten open then the shell is discarded (sometimes in the trash and sometimes on the floor… :~}).
I wonder which of the hechsherim on the packet this advice comes from? Or perhaps the manufacturer?
Has anyone any information on this?
