1) Many simply don’t smoke on Pesach and some even quit as a result – ????? ????? ???????.
2) It certainly created legitimacy for smoking, especially when they advertise in some of the religious newspapers here in Israel bragging about their Hehsher,
3) At the very least there should be a disclaimer regarding general Halachik permissibly. Would anyone give a Hechser to a salmon & beef sandwich?
4) And then you of course have the issue of Chilul Hashem. Last year when they advertised the Hechsher it generated some horrible Facebook posts among secular Israelis.

you dont need a hechsher for cigs. they tobacco itself is nifsal me’achilas kelev by the time you put it in your body and theres no achshiveih because its not achila. so sadi my rov, a prominent yerushalmi posek in yerushalyim who incidentally holds it assur to smoke.

Missed the boat. Just because Chametz & suicide are 2 dinim doesn’t mean Hechsher should be given. That is why the analogy to salmon beef sandwich.

You cannot do any act that allows or encourages a Sakana, even if the other person thinks it’s Mutar. In fact, one is obligated to be Mechalel Shabbos to save someone from danger, even if it’s against that persons will, and even if the risk is only small, and even if it’s only a long term risk!
In reality what this Baal Hamachsir is (unintentionally) doing is helping cause families of Almanos and Yesomim. And he’d never even know who.
