    Serious question:

What is the origin or reason for having lace in a kittel? Is this a minhag of only certain groups?

Why isn’t this beged isha, at least in our times?

I’ve never seen a woman wearing lace on her kittel.

I purposely wear a kittel without lace or embelleshments of any other kind. Mine is as simple as I can find it.

Not based on any minhag… just personal preference.

Wolf, I hear that. You will eventually get buried in it, and I assume you are not a Pharaoh.

lace is a material just like any other. girls and boys shouldnt refrain from wearing the same material as the other sex. that is very extremist and rather disturbing.

I have no problem wearing pink shirts, but I would not wear lace on my kittle, so I cut it off, not to bad a job, but not to good looking either. When I was younger, I heard a rov comment that at least for Yom Kippur, the kittle should be more than just similar to tachrichin, but have closed front and be linen like tachrichin. (in my limited experience as stand in chevre kaddisha, I never saw linen. So I sought out a place that sewed them and asked for a set. They chased me away. Maybe it a segula for long life.

My Kittel has buttons to close, I can’t waste my time trying to lace it up. Anyway, where would you find (replacement) string?

They’re like lace circus tents. They’re cut so terribly. I’m going to get one made.

Would pair nicely with the four inch stilettos.

Lace on a kittel? Seriously? 😀

Okay, I’ll have to pay more attention to what people are wearing this Yom Tov (not that I’m going to pop my head over the mechitzah)!

I’ve always associated lace as being on girls’ clothes, but I don’t see why it can’t be on a kittel, even if it sounds so … so … unusual. 🙂
