Hi. I’m trying to teach myself hebrew but I can’t afford private tutors or school. Does anybody here know where I can learn the language, online- preferably free, or for very cheap? Thanks in advance

P.s. my goal is to be able to speak the language fairly well and be able to communicate well enough to be understood without problems…

I don’t know about online programs but there’s a good book out there used in high schools and colleges called “Hayesod” published by Feldheim – I think. Visit your local Judaica store or u can get it online.

Right now Ulpan-Or is offering a free 1-month subscription to their e-newsletter. It’s really very helpful.

Depends how much money and effort you can invest. Rosetta Stone is fantastic.

If you can understand hebrew well enough to listen to radio you probably can find some hebrew language radio or podcasts to listen to.

Check on ITunes University I have found various wonderful bits of content there (though I have not looked for Hebrew)

I would hate to violate the CR rules by posting a web site. However, you can Google Ulpan Or.
