a sequel to the “Let our people…” series.
Yes, Jothar, this is for you!!!
November 4, 2011 3:57 pm at 3:57 pm #824116🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantI think we all have different definitions of fun . . .
November 4, 2011 4:02 pm at 4:02 pm #824117JotharMemberAgreed 100%.
November 4, 2011 4:53 pm at 4:53 pm #824119Boro Park GirlMemberJust make sure your fun isn’t harmful/dangerous.
November 4, 2011 4:54 pm at 4:54 pm #824120HaLeiViParticipantHow about, let our people discuss Torah. If you feel the need to LOR people, fine. Why does a normal thread have to close to non moderators?
November 4, 2011 5:39 pm at 5:39 pm #824122Avram in MDParticipantZeesKite,
Please, let it rest. You are generating much more disruption with this issue than Jothar is.
As far as a phone-call verified screen name, I personally don’t think that it would be feasible. In general, security and usability are inversely proportional, so a proper balance needs to be attained. Also, I feel that providing personal information such as a phone number to a Web site is in itself a security threat for the user.
I think the best path for greater security lies in the existing features of the CR: the posters and moderators. Posters should guard their personal information more closely, and moderators should be on the lookout to edit/delete posts that may compromise someone’s personal information, especially if the poster is young.

November 4, 2011 5:47 pm at 5:47 pm #824125HaLeiViParticipantIt is only a disruuption as much as you take it as one.
November 4, 2011 5:50 pm at 5:50 pm #824126BTGuyParticipantAvrum.. you are just as fishy as Jothar. Are you the same???
I think in the name of Jothar, this site has a new problem!
WE’RE TIRED OF MODERATING NASTY COMMENTS. LET’S KEEP THE TONE COOL. LET’S RESUME TO PLEASANT POSTING AGAIN. (and no, I’m not Jothar)
November 4, 2011 6:04 pm at 6:04 pm #824128BTGuyParticipantYou are not moderating fairly.
You had to close two threads today due to machlokes, and it was the same person being difficult and not a word to them. Not even a thank you to say we appreciate your efforts, but we got it under control. But with my post, oy, an intervention. lol
I stayed out of a few new threads today where people were less than their usual selves and unable to socialize in a relaxing manner. Please try to moderate fairly and dont delete and manipulate the posts to the benefit of one over the other. Its not right.
WE DO TRY. IT’S USUALLY THE POSTS THAT GET WRITTEN WITH ANGER TOWARD OTHER POSTERS, THAT GET DELETED.
November 4, 2011 6:12 pm at 6:12 pm #824129real-briskerMemberBTG – I`m with you on that post you just posted that got removed already. I also got a mods comment on my post.
November 4, 2011 6:21 pm at 6:21 pm #824130BTGuyParticipantThank you real-brisker. They can’t fool all of the people all of the time.
Moderator, I am not so sure how you can distinguish anger versus a serious view in my post, but I have seen less than gentle comments made to posters by various moderators. Nonetheless, not one comment to the person ruffling feathers for the past two days, leading to those threads to having to be closed.
I was enjoying the CR earlier in the week and decided to stay out of it what was annoying me. Then others, by the droves, started reacting to a certain person in the same way I was and not only was there no comment from a moderator to that person who had their topics closed, there was even cooperation from moderators as the person called out their requests to the moderator.
Hmmmm.
Thank you for your effort in replying, though.
DIFFERENT MODERATORS HAVE DIFFERENT MINDS AND DIFFERENT RESPONSES
November 4, 2011 6:30 pm at 6:30 pm #824131real-briskerMemberBTG – You gotta have special eyes.
November 4, 2011 6:55 pm at 6:55 pm #824135BTGuyParticipantThat is true. Let’s let all this gunk go and have a great Shabbos everyone!!!
November 4, 2011 7:00 pm at 7:00 pm #824136Avram in MDParticipantBTGuy,
Despite the fact that I really like fish, I am not Jothar. I just happen to agree with one point he has been making: that users on this site should be more careful with personal details, and moderators should be on the lookout for suspicious behavior. Nothing more than that. I have no other intentions.
November 4, 2011 7:00 pm at 7:00 pm #824137ZeesKiteParticipantMODs,
I apologize for all the “fun” I’ve created, and to Jothar for the uncalled-for, uncaring remark towards him. Sorry. I’ll try to be more thoughtful. (thread was closed)
==> MORE (kosher) FUN NEXT WEEK!! <==
Thanks Mods for all your ‘savlanus’. Each & every one having to go through my harangue!
November 4, 2011 7:10 pm at 7:10 pm #824138BTGuyParticipantzeeskite, you are a nice person. Jothar is a nice person. Everyone here is nice. I mean that! Some are wrong, but all are nice..lol I like the CR and everything everyone has to offer.
The security issue is very important, but the security issue was being handled in a way that has become divisive even when I backed out of it. It is the topic which should have been moderated and not those expressing their dissatisfaction.
If the site develops new policies, and wants our phone numbers; fine. But to make it a daily, multiple topic matter, clearly, is not too popular, to say the least. If I never said a word on this, it was still an issue that stuck out like a sore thumb this week. There is nothing moderate about moderating with bias.
Good Shabbos and let’s focus on Achdus next week maybe!
November 4, 2011 9:17 pm at 9:17 pm #824139Raphael KaufmanMemberAs my mother, A”H, used to say, “When fun is fun it’s really funny, but when fun isn’t fun it isn’t funny anymore” Good Shabbos
November 5, 2011 4:46 pm at 4:46 pm #824140ToiParticipantand i always say “its funny till someone gets hit by a truck”.
