I think the mods should take note that there are people posting very adult topics on this forum, including those related to various forms of abuse, marital dissension and the like. I think a seperate forum for school aged kids should be started. It seems strange to read about an eighth graders social adjustment concerns on the same forum with topics that they should never be exposed to at this age.

Being online means being exposed to far worse things then what one might read in the CR. Its the perents responsibility that under age kids should not be online, not YWN.

September 4, 2011 5:35 pm at 5:35 pm #805681always hereParticipantmommamia22~ I’ve known there are young’uns here, but was *shocked* when I found out a while back that there are 7th graders here (per the Mod).
I’ve been saying that there should be a ‘cocoa room’.
I’m 60, B’H, k’a’h, & have no real desire to be chatting with ‘tweens :/ JMO.
September 4, 2011 5:42 pm at 5:42 pm #805682BuzBuzParticipantWhy is it TYW’s issue? Why should they be parenting your children? If you don’t want your kids seeing this then lock down your internet. Oy vey if you think TYW is an issue for todays children.
September 4, 2011 5:49 pm at 5:49 pm #805683aries2756ParticipantThere is no way for the CR to monitor when kids get on. It is up to parents to know and understand at what age they should allow their kids to be on the internet. I certainly did NOT allow my elementary aged children on the computer at that time, and they did not use the internet when it came out until they were past high school. I don’t believe that my grandchildren will be on the internet any time in the near future and we are NOT chareidim. If their parents are giving them access to the internet then it is their responsibility.
There is no way of knowing what age or gender any poster is until they come out and tell us.

I merely suggest that for the benefit of school aged children and those on this website, it might be best to start a separate forum (something only the mods can do) for these kids. As things stand, by logging on to the “adult” portion of this website, they are exposed to topics that they should not be at this age. I would be surprised if anyone thought it appropriate for an eighth grader to be exposed to details of spousal abuse. They might not have to be if there were a forum specifically for them. I also agree, chatting with an eighth grader isn’t “my thing”.
