Today I was driving and I drove past an older man who had severe back problems. He was mamesh completely bent over and walking with a cane. My first reaction was one of concern for him. He was older and couldnt see so well in front of him because of the way he was bend over. Then I realized how luck I am that Baruch Hashem, I am healthy and Hashem gave me the giift of being able to walk without great struggle. I realized how I should always be in a state of simcha, dancing in front of Hashem because I have that gift. Unfortunately, Sometimes it takes a certain experience like that one to make you really be thankful for something you have. Then I davened for this man, that he should be able to walk without pain and that he should have strength to continue walking.

This one man gave me so much inspiration. He was in so much pain, yet he didn’t let it stop him. I realized, that sometimes we too, walk bend over from pain or disappointment. That disappointment is in ourselves, or chas v’shalom sometimes disappointment that Hashem isn’t giving us what we want.

We walk through our lives with our head down to the floor, with no faith in ourselves. We loose thought of how much faith Hashem has on us, and that He NEVER gives up on us. So too, we should never give up on ourselves. Hashem doesn’t want us to walk with our heads bend over. If we are always looking at the ground, we can only concentrate on ourselves and how low we feel. If we are always looking at the ground, we wont get anywhere. We can’t bask in the sweetness of HaKadosh Baruch Hu, by looking at the hashgacha He has in our lives on a daily basis. If we are always looking at the ground, we will never be able to see- mamesh.

Don’t fool yourselves into believing what the yetzer tells you: “Your humble if you believe you are so low, and are always looking down.” That is total sheker. Your feet should be on the floor, but your head should be looking up to the sky!! You should be grounded, to know that there is nothing but Hashem, and that He controls everything. You should know that you have a job in this world, and that your greatness can not be compared to the Ribono Shel Olam. You should know that yes, you have made mistakes or done things that weren’t the best. But neshama, also know, YOU CAN BE SO SO GREAT! Your feet should be on the floor, but you should have your head in the sky- to know that you have the greatest potential! Do you know What can ONE mitzvah you do bring to the world? What impact can ONE tefillah from your lips do to the world?! GREATNESS! To have goals, sheefas, and aspirations.

That is what I learned from this man. Even though he couldnt see in front of him, and he was in so much pain, he kept walking, and I am sure he will be walking for many more years with Hashem’s help. Pick your head up, look towards the sky, put yourself in Hashem’s hands, smile, walk forward with your head up, and dont look down.

I still say you should start a blog.

This one man gave me so much inspiration. He was in so much pain, yet he didn’t let it stop him.

It’s interesting. He may have been in a bad mood, bitter etc, but you took a beautiful lesson from him. Sometimes we have no idea why things happen, but even people we never saw before or don’t even know exist can benefit.

    Thanks.

Thank you kapusta, I’ve been thinking about starting a blog, it just seems like so much work. We’ll see.

What you said is so true. I never really thought of it like that before, thank you.
