Losing a Great Gift

With all of the tragedy, suffering, and difficulty these days, one of more disturbing issues is the lack of tefillah b’tzibbur. I am not a rov or talmid chochom or a tzaddik, but I haven’t been able to stop thinking that Hashem Yisborach has taken tefillah b’tzibbur away from us for a reason. If a father gives a valuable gift to his son, and the son fails to appreciate it properly and instead mistreats and misuses it, wouldn’t it be reasonable for the father to take away the gift and hold it until the son is ready to appreciate it properly? Have we properly appreciated the valuable gift of tefillah b’tzibbur which our Father has given us? Do we realize what tremendous opportunity every tefillah b’tzibbur is? Perhaps a few questions might help us to answer these questions.

Do we try to always arrive at the beis knesses at least a few minutes before the beginning of each tefillah to allow ourselves enough time to situate ourselves and clear our minds of other thoughts and issues so that we ready to address the Melech?
Do we choose a particular minyan because of its high speed? Do we always need to hurry?
Do we dress and behave in a way which is appropriate for one who is in the house of the Melech?
Do we talk during the tefilla at times when it is assur?
Do we make certain that our mobile phones and any other devices are completely disabled from making any sounds during the tefillos?
Are we careful to respect the other mispallelim around us and avoid disturbing them or encroaching on their daled amos while they are saying their shmoneh esreh?
Do we listen carefully to the shaliach tzibbur and answer Baruch Hu Uvaruch Shmo, Amen, Yehei Shmei Rabbah, Kedushah, etc.? Do we listen carefully to the krias hatorah and the haftarah?
Do we carefully listen to the drasha or dvar halacha?
Are we careful to respect the makom tefillah? Do we make sure to put away seforim and refrain from leaving dirty tissues or other refuse lying around? Do we make an effort to maintain the beis knesses clean and in good condition?
Do we try to make sure that rabonnim are paid sufficiently and that are treated with proper respect?

I am certainly not an eloquent writer, but perhaps I have raised a point or two which might be worth pondering. If you find anything worthwhile here, please pass it along. Hashem should send us a great refuah and yeshuah very soon, and we should be mechazek in our avodas Hashem.
