    Is it assur to post a garage sale ad if you have no garage or yard, and you advertised that it was a yard and/or garage sale?

    Or is it understood that if you put an address of a condo or apartment, or home without a yard and/or garage, that someone might be going into your home to buy your stuff?

    Is it buyer beware – and do your research first? And the seller is allowed to advertise without any halachic issues?

    Thank you!

    Is it assur to call a room with a sink and toilet a “bathroom”, although it contains no bath?

    What ubiq is saying is that using a common expression is not lying.

    Is it assur to advertise a house for sale that comes with a driveway, when there is no driving done on that way? In fact, may you even call it a driveway? Is it lying to give someone directions and tell them to take the parkway, when in fact by law one not may not park on that road?

    I was hoping for Rashi, but I guess I should be happy I wasn’t called Shteinzaltz.

    The whole point of a yard sale is that the weirdos don’t have to step foot in your house.

    How would this work with an apartment?

    I guess you can leave stuff out in the hall and ask them to slip money under the door

    So true! That’s why I only have yard sales in theory and donate my random unwanted stuff to nonprofits – but that’s only because right now in my life I baruch Hashem have that luxury.

    In the past, I had a moving sale – and a friend over so I wouldn’t be alone with random people.

    People put up ads for stuff online, and that gets messy when dealing with the public for sure.

    B’esrat Hashem maybe they’ll make mobile yards or an online company will figure out how to do it. There are already clothing stores online that act like garage sales and consignment shops;

    Now a great idea I read about: in MD police depts are making specific areas in their dept. a ‘safe haven’ for sellers and buyers to meet, so you don’t have to have strangers over. Good for single sale items advertised on CL or where ever less. Ask your local police department.
