I’m looking for the lyrics to a song from ‘years ago’ about Tehillim. It hs the words my friend my Tehillim…pages have seen my/many tears….I don’t know who sings it. If anyone can post the name of singer/album I’d appreciate it. My students just received their very own Sefer Tehillim – I’d like to teach them some of this song…. Thanks.

I think it’s on Hallel. Definitely not MBD.

I don’t know too much of it but here’s some.

    My sefer tehillim,

I’ve always held you so dear,

You help me express my deepest thoughts,

You taught me not to fear.

Your words are engrained upon my heart,

Your pages have felt my tears,

You help me express me deepest thoughts (I think?)

    ……..(not sure what’s next)

Maybe if each poster adds another line, you’ll end up with the whole song.

Yes, it’s on Hallel. This is the chorus:

    My Sefer Tehillim

I’ve always held you so dear

I turned to you in troubled times

You taught me not to fear.

Your words are engraved upon my heart

Your pages have felt my tears

You helped me express my deepest thoughts

To my Father Who always hears(?)

    CORRECTION- I just listened closely:

    My Sefer Tehillim

I’ve always held you so near

I’ve turned to you in troubled times

You taught me not to fear.

Your words are engraved upon my heart

Your pages have felt my tears

You helped me express my deepest thoughts

To the Father I hold so dear.

I tried to find the song on google – I ended up with Hallel/Lipa Shmeltzer. How exactly should I look this up? (I’m really NOT experienced navigating on google….) Thanks! Thank you for posting the name of the singer, I’ll try using that….

I can take out the old record player and listen to it and write down the words. Would that help?

If you’re trying to identify the song about Tehillim with lyrics like “my friend my Tehillim… pages have seen my/many tears,” here’s the best way to track it down:

    1. Try a music identification app
Use Shazam, SoundHound, or even Google’s “search a song by lyrics” feature with the fragments you remember — sometimes even imperfect lyrics can trigger a match.

    2. Search on multiple platforms
Look up variations of the lyrics on:

    YouTube (“Tehillim song lyrics”)

    Streaming services (Spotify, Apple Music)

    Lyric sites (Genius, AZLyrics)

Using slightly different versions of the phrases often helps.

    3. Ask in dedicated communities
Post your lyrics in groups focused on Jewish music, liturgical songs, or Tehillim music — people in those communities often recognize old or niche tracks instantly.

    4. Check older albums/compilations
Sometimes songs about Tehillim come from:

    Jewish children’s music albums

    Prayer/meditative music compilations

Community or camp recordings from decades past

Search terms like “Tehillim song” or “Tehillim lyrics song” can help pull these up.

Hopefully one of these methods will lead you to the song’s name and artist so you can share it with your students! 🎶🙏
