Maharatz Chayes (Reprise)

A while back we were discussing the Maharatz Chayes’s kashya of how Ben Azzai could determine the ????? ????? via ??? ?’ ??????. The Maharatz Chayes there did not provide an answer. Putting aside the discussion that ensued

I saw that the Maharatz Chayes mentions this in Toras Hanevi’im Perek 1. Here he is discussing the general idea ?? ????? ??? and he points out the difficulty, that the Raavad on several occasions writes that he arrived at the halacha via ruach hakodesh or ??? ?’ ??????. He continues and says that we find this in the Gemara – Ben Azzai determined the ????? ????’ ????? ????? ??? ??? via ??? ?’ ??????. He then quotes the ???”? ?? ???? who answers the kashya on the Raavad by saying ???? ????? ????”? ?? ??? ????? ?? ??? ?? ?????? ???? ?’ ????? ????? ?? ???? ??? ????? ????? ?? ???? ???? ??? ???? ??? ??? ????? ?? ??????? ??’ and the Maharatz Chayes does not return to the discussion of Ben Azzai. So it is possible that he is using the answer for the Raavad to also answer for Ben Azzai, although it doesn’t seem to fit so well with what the Gemara actually says.
