Viewing 2 posts - 1 through 2 (of 2 total) Author Posts November 7, 2017 8:31 am at 8:31 am #1397287 matzavspectatorParticipant daf yomi has just started masechta makos/malkos. my father z”l (among many others) used to call it malkos regardless of the fact that it is written makos. does anyone know the reason. er flegt zuggen “mi lernt malkos nisht makos” November 7, 2017 11:25 am at 11:25 am #1397360 iacisrmmaParticipant The passuk in Devarim 25:2-3 states: :וְהָיָ֛ה אִם־בִּ֥ן הַכּ֖וֹת הָֽרָשָׁ֑ע וְהִפִּיל֤וֹ הַשֹּׁפֵט֙ וְהִכָּ֣הוּ לְפָנָ֔יו כְּדֵ֥י רִשְׁעָת֖וֹ בְּמִסְפָּֽר אַרְבָּעִ֥ים יַכֶּ֖נּוּ לֹ֣א יֹסִ֑יף פֶּן־יֹסִ֨יף לְהַכֹּת֤וֹ עַל־אֵ֨לֶּה֙ מַכָּ֣ה רַבָּ֔ה וְנִקְלָ֥ה אָחִ֖יךָ לְעֵינֶֽיךָ: The passuk refers to Makkah (singular).
