February 13, 2011 7:23 pm at 7:23 pm #743679shlishiMembermaybe he shaved for the chasuna at his kallah’s request?
February 13, 2011 7:56 pm at 7:56 pm #743680☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThat guy’s not a doctor and not from the Bronx.
February 13, 2011 8:07 pm at 8:07 pm #743681shlishiMemberi didnt notice the wedding story saying he’s not a doctor or from the bronx. it says he’s something else? and even if so, why else hasnt charlie commented unless he is busy with sheva brochos.
February 14, 2011 12:01 am at 12:01 am #743683wanderingchanaParticipantDoes our Charlie Hall bowl?
February 14, 2011 3:46 am at 3:46 am #743685☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant1. This festival involves Avodah Zarah
2. It took place on Shabbos
3. It took place in Minnesota
4. He is called Mr. Hall
5. Our beloved Charlie hasn’t commented because he’s not as stupid as I am to even address this silly post.

2-I doubt Charlie Hall would go to Minnesota during the YU seforim sale.

February 14, 2011 2:37 pm at 2:37 pm #743689charliehallParticipantWow! I missed this one. AFAIK I am not related. In ane case, I’m
Jewish
Bearded
Decades younger
Already happily married
And I haven’t visited Minnesota for several years.
February 20, 2011 1:28 am at 1:28 am #743693Pashuteh YidMemberCharlie, I am puzzled. I know your expertise is in Biostatistics, but what are your qualifications vis a vis this thread? What made you think you may have any info to add to this topic such that you offer an opinion on this issue in particular?
February 20, 2011 2:25 am at 2:25 am #743694☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantPY,
He probably knows someone who is an expert on this issue.
February 20, 2011 5:33 am at 5:33 am #743695MHYParticipantI have met Charlie, he is a great guy (that doesn’t mean I agree with everything he says).
Charlie, I think some people here (and on other sites too) are very intrigued about you. I think some people think Charlie Hall is not your real name. They think it is like Charlie Brown, a fictional character. It has a very generic ring to it, especially if one comes from a sheltered frum background.
Anyway, maybe some of you will be zoche to meet Charlie someday and then you will see what I mean.
February 20, 2011 5:50 am at 5:50 am #743696☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAnd many of know that he is Charles B. Hall, PH.D, Professor, Department of Epidemiology & Population Health, and Professor, The Saul R. Korey Department of Neurology. Despite our frum, sheltered backgrounds. And I would be thrilled to meet him, I’m sure he’s wonderful.

I actually do exist and I use my real name when I publish comments online.
February 23, 2011 3:55 pm at 3:55 pm #743699canineMemberHow can we know you are not impersonating Dr. Hall from YU?
February 23, 2011 4:45 pm at 4:45 pm #743701MDGParticipantAs the CR rules prohibit showing who people are, I will not post a link. But you can easily google Dr Hall and find some rather informative videos on youtube.
February 23, 2011 5:10 pm at 5:10 pm #743702charliehallParticipantI’m unaware of any videos of the real me on youtube. There is a Christian musician who shares a name with me, but AFAIK we are not related.
February 23, 2011 5:41 pm at 5:41 pm #743703MDGParticipantDr Hall,
There are some videos published by YU.
Go to youtube and search on “charles hall yeshiva”
That might stimulate your memory 🙂
February 23, 2011 10:28 pm at 10:28 pm #743712canineMemberMDG: how does that demonstrate whether or not he is the same as our poster?
February 23, 2011 11:02 pm at 11:02 pm #743713☕ DaasYochid ☕Participantcanine,
He was responding to Charlie’s post.
February 23, 2011 11:05 pm at 11:05 pm #743714MDGParticipant“Our” charliehall claims to be a PhD at Einstein Med. He seems to be rather educated. He has claimed to not shave. Can I say he is 100% the same person? No, but the circumstantial evidence is strong, so I’m satisfied.
If you really want to find out, I guess you can email or call. Dr Hall’s contact information at Einstein is available if you search the web (he has mentioned that a while ago).
February 24, 2011 2:05 am at 2:05 am #743715ItcheSrulikMemberI could be wrong, but I may have met you several years ago (late 2007) at the YU open house when I was looking at colleges. Do you do the bio department tour? I remember a guy who looked vaguely like you. (Yeah, I know. A guy with a beard at YU, like that narrows anything down.)
February 24, 2011 3:07 am at 3:07 am #743716charliehallParticipant“I may have met you several years ago (late 2007) at the YU open house when I was looking at colleges. Do you do the bio department tour?”
No, I have not done any open houses. And I’m rarely at the main campus.
“A guy with a beard at YU, like that narrows anything down.”
ROTF!!!
February 24, 2011 3:11 am at 3:11 am #743717charliehallParticipant“That might stimulate your memory 🙂 “
Wow! One of them IS me. I had no idea they had put it on YouTube.
February 24, 2011 3:34 am at 3:34 am #743718ItcheSrulikMemberYeah, I don’t know why I thought that a professor from the medical school would be doing the undergrad open house anyway.
February 24, 2011 4:05 am at 4:05 am #743719charliehallParticipantWhen I arrived at Einstein almost ten years ago, it was almost a different university than the main campus, with almost nothing in common except payroll, the lack of classes on Shabat and Yom Tov, and the kosher cafeterias. Richard Joel has tried to create more cross-campus collaboration and some of my colleagues have been involved with those efforts. But having four campuses that aren’t that geographically close to one another does not make it easy.
June 29, 2017 5:13 pm at 5:13 pm #1307625JosephParticipantIt’s already past the sixth anniversary. Time flies!
June 30, 2017 9:47 am at 9:47 am #1308164blubluhParticipantAs a kid, my folks used shop for suits at a chain called Robert Hall. Robert Hall was big enough to advertise on radio and even had their own jingle, though I’ll have to think a while to recall the lyrics.
Was that chain owned by a relative of Charlie’s?
July 2, 2017 9:51 am at 9:51 am #1308375golferParticipantCharliehall hasn’t visited the coffee room in years.
Like so many other posters….(Maybe to celebrate their recent refurbishment of this site, the mods should invite the oldtimers to stop in and say hello.)

September 12, 2017 5:22 pm at 5:22 pm #1362343charliehallParticipantI just noticed this. I still exist, but I am very busy with work and learning (made a siyum on Yerushalmi Maasrot just nine days ago!) and am trying to be involved in fewer machlokets. 🙂
AFAIK I am not related to Robert Hall.

btw, I almost met you during the summer. Since you probably don’t know who I am, you probably don’t know what I mean.
October 24, 2018 11:29 pm at 11:29 pm #1610479JosephParticipantWelcome Back Charlie Hall!
Is Facebook taking up the time you used to spend here? Or are you unto the next mesechta in Yerushalmi?
October 25, 2018 7:49 am at 7:49 am #1610484charliehallParticipantJoseph,
Thanks! Work has been taking up a lot of time, and so has learning. Since my last post I have also completed Yerushalmi Maaser Sheni, and just last Shabbat completed Yerushalmi Challah. I hope to make a Siyum shortly.
