Please define.
September 20, 2011 4:58 pm at 4:58 pm #811387yungerman1Participantshmoel- Are you using the CR as a dictionary/encyclopedia?
September 20, 2011 5:00 pm at 5:00 pm #811388yungerman1ParticipantLoosely translated: Paskening or expressing an opinion which is halachically incorrect.
You should invest in the Encyclopedia Talmudis!!
September 20, 2011 5:21 pm at 5:21 pm #811389Raphael KaufmanMemberIt specifically refers to psak. Lots of folks here in the CR, including me, express opinions that may be halachically incorrect, but that’s just ignorance. No one (I hope) considers anything on the CR as psak halacha.
Disclaimer: The opinions expressed by posters in the CR do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the Bashefer.
September 20, 2011 5:22 pm at 5:22 pm #811390ToiParticipanttwisting source material to fit with a krum, antitorah ideal. let the bashing begin
September 20, 2011 5:23 pm at 5:23 pm #811391Sam2ParticipantChas V’shalom Yungerman. Being wrong is not Megal Panim Batorah. One Ika D’amri in Sanhedrin (somewhere in Chelek) says that is involves not having proper respect for Torah scholars.
If we assume that the literal meaning of the words also matters, it would include misrepresenting sources or inventing Halachos that have no basis in Mesorah whatsoever.
September 20, 2011 5:53 pm at 5:53 pm #811392Sam2ParticipantToi: It applies to twisting source material both ways. Misrepresenting the sources to further either a left-wing or right-wing ideal falls under the category of Megal Panim Batorah.
September 20, 2011 6:13 pm at 6:13 pm #811393ToiParticipantsam2- wouoldnt that define a good chunk of the posters here.
September 20, 2011 6:58 pm at 6:58 pm #811394yungerman1ParticipantI spoke too fast. Please disregard my comment and see Sanhedrin daf 99.
Thank you Sam2.
September 20, 2011 11:29 pm at 11:29 pm #811395Sam2ParticipantToi: I don’t know a good chunk. Rachmana Litzlan K’lal Yisroel is so divided nowadays that many people on both sides of the fence are Over this incredibly Chamur Issur. It’s a major problem.
September 21, 2011 3:00 am at 3:00 am #811396mddMemberSam2, I do not know about “many people”, but there is definetly such a problem.
September 21, 2011 2:35 pm at 2:35 pm #811399Sam2ParticipantToi: Don’t mix up what people do with this concept. Someone who doesn’t follow Halacha (to either the right or the left) is not necessarily Megaleh Panim. But making a “hashkafa” out of any Halacha has this same problem. When we (left or right) let any one Halacha define our Judaism then we have inherently damaged the rest of them. Halacha always tells us what is important and what takes precedence.
September 21, 2011 2:53 pm at 2:53 pm #811401shmoelMemberSam: I was referring to the “frum” folks who dont cover enough yet claim it is perfectly okay. That is much worse.
September 21, 2011 4:06 pm at 4:06 pm #811405PeacemakerMemberThe untzniusdik women are causing many many others to sin everytime they walk in the street.
