Out of curiosity, do these two yeshivot have anything to do with each other any more? Do they still share a common derech? Does one have a better reputation (as far as learning and midot) than the other?

Mir Brooklyn isn’t really on the map and roshei yeshivos of the past generations have passed on.

1: If they “aren’t on the map”, please share which — and how many — American yeshivos are “on the map”.

No one told you what to do. It was pointed out that you made an unfounded, factually false, comment.

You did and it’s not false. I live in Brooklyn and its prominence fell about 25 years ago.

Torah Temimah and Chaim Berlin are ahead in terms of presence.

25 years ago? You think Rav Shmuel Berenbaum zt’l was chopped liver until he was niftar 10 years ago?

“Torah Temimah and Chaim Berlin are ahead in terms of presence.”

Clueless…. Torah Temimah is a has been. Reb Shlomo Feivel left, the place is crumbling. Mrgolis was pretty much just thrown out by the new board. He hadn’t paid a penny to the Rabbeyim in years. They don’t have parallel classes anymore. The bais medrash is 99% history.

Chaim Berlin is exactly that. a “presence” Nothing more, nothing less. “Gavyva shel kedusha”. It died with Rav Hutner.

The Mirrer Yeshiva is not on the map. Jospeh has no idea what he is talking about. 99.9999999% of Yeshiva Bochrim never consider the Mir. No need to list the Yeshivos that are on the map. But no metzuyan ever consideres the Mir at this point.

Philly, Telz Chicago, Detroit, Passaic, Fallsburg, Edison, Patterson, Spingfield, and dozens of Yeshivos in Lakewood. Dozens and dozens of amazing Yeshivos.

Rav Elya Brudny isn’t prominence? Last I checked he was the leading Gadol in America. NO ONE, NO ONE has the shoulders he has. there hasn’t been such a Gadol in American history, knee deep in every single persons tzaros, molestation, drug use, addiction, mental illness, sholom bayis, machlokes… it goes on and on and on.

Name me another Gadol like that in the past 70 years on this soil. Name one.

    Prominence.

Gadol and prominence don’t always correlate. The yeshiva was floundering in the 90s already, at no fault of Rav Shmuel Greenbaum. Torah Temimah mesivta has a bigger presence than elementary. Chaim Berlin has a presence because there are people there that who know how to run an institution.

Chong: You’re mixing up mesivtas with beis medrashes.

Glatt: Rav Moshe’s been around in the last 70 years. So has Rav Yaakov. And the Satmar Rebbe. And Rav Aharon. And the Bluzhever. And the Skulener zt’l and shlita. The Bobover. Rav Hutner. Rav Aharon Schechter shlita. Rav Pam. Rav Berenbaum. Rav Dovid Feinstein shlita. And many others, all around in the last 70 years, some still around as we speak.

He’s a huge godol but the others were/are even bigger.

    glattekop,
    You are so right!
    And cong,
First of all, notice how Mir Brooklyn has plenty of boys from all over and how Lakewood schools only have Lakewood boys. And please name me people from NYC area who go to Mesivta in Detroit or Petterson etc.
Also cong, sometime Joseph is right (not always though).
    and ah Gut Shabbos!
P.S. Please remember #Break4Hask and take a break from posting on the coffee room (AKA your job) and donate to Camp Hasc now!
