The section of the shabbos shacharis between yekum purkan and ashrei has been reserved throughout the ages as the place where kehillos insert various tefillos such as av harachamim (in memory of the Chmielnicki massacres) the “Tosfos Yom Tov’s Misheberach” the prayer for the government (which has taken many forms over many years) etc. I just wanted to take an informal poll of which of these extra misheberach’s everyone here says in shul.

    I’ll start:

We say for the American government and tzahal.

Where I daven, none. The Misheberach for “behab”, is said (its said a little later).

I was at a couple of places where they say the mi sheberach for those who refrained from talking during the tefilos. I guess thats the Tosfos Yom Tov’s Misheberach?

In our shul, two Mi SheBerachs are said:

    1. For people who do not talk during davening.

    2. For the American government.

Interesting. My shul says the misheberach for “behab” before ashrei. When does yours say it?

Most common “the misheberach for “behab” before ?????

the mi sheberach for those who refrained from talking during the tefilos IS the Tosfos Yom Tov’s Misheberach

“av harachamim (in memory of the Chmielnicki massacres)”

It is actually much older than that; it was written originally in medieval Ashkenaz in memory of the victims of the Crusaders.

In Boyan they say the Tosfos Yom Tov’s misheberach every Shabbos -and it’s beautiful.

It’s worthwhile to check out the Berachos that he heaps upon the heads of those who refrain from speech during davening. Who doesn’t want all of those things?

I’m lucky that the bracha specifies only those that refrain from talking during davening. If it also mentioned people who talk during laining, then I’d be out of luck (as I talk during laining all the time).

One for Medinat Yisrael, one for tzahal. There are two others that are added after the mi shebayrachs for cholim and before shevi’i – one for Jonathan Pollard, one for Gilad Schalit.
