I was recently in a hat store that was running a “Buy one Get one at 1/2 price” sale! I only needed 1 hat so I refused the offer. The guy in back of me then asked if I would mind if he would take the second hat at 1/2 price!I answered that I think we should split the savings
on his hat!He replied that I already refused the offer and was going to walk out anyway so why am I being cheap about it!I responded if not for me you wouldn’t be getting that hat at 1/2 price!He said, “you ever hear of “Zeh neheneh v’zeh lo chusar?”
He then told me what to do with my hat!
What do you guys think?

You were both wrong. The deal is for one person. That one person may choose to buy two and resell one, but the savings can’t be split.
RY23: The offer doesn’t say it can’t be shared between two people, so splitting it in no way violates the offer. (Even putting aside Grep pointing out that the owner said so explicitly.)

If the owner really didn’t mind, he should have just sold the other guy a hat at half price as the second hat to your first.
Grepsil, so what did you end up doing? Split it, he took all the savings or you walked out?
I can”t see why zeh neheneh v’zeh lo choseir should entitle him to the sale more than it would you.
sdd, because that guy might not have been willing to purchase the 2nd hat at anything above half off. In which case either he can buy it at half off without causing Grepsil to lose anything, or otherwise no sale on a second hat occurs.
If you ask him to pay you it is not ?? ???? ??? ?? ???.
