How will we know when Moshiach has come (may it be speedily in our days)? Is it one single moment – he’s here and that’s it, or will stuff happen over a long period of time?
Will we know it automatically, or will we have to read it on the news? I think that the great shofar will be sounded, right? Who will sound it? Will the deaf and blind know as well? Once Moshiach comes, how do we get to Jerusalem?November 20, 2011 10:37 pm at 10:37 pm #830278
when Moshiach is here, hashem will make sure that we are well aware of it. We will feel it in our bones. It’s part of ourselves.November 20, 2011 10:56 pm at 10:56 pm #830279
Stay tuned, you might read it in the coffee room…
We are already witnessing Ikvei DeMoshiach (Moshiach’s footsteps). We are in golus Yishmael, the last golus…November 20, 2011 11:13 pm at 11:13 pm #830280
I still don’t get it.November 21, 2011 7:54 am at 7:54 am #830281
The Gemara in Nazir entertains the possibilty of Moshiach having arrived and people aren’t yet aware. The Rambam writes that there are many and conflicting depictions of Moshiach’s arrival in Navi and Medrashim. We can’t tell until he comes, very soon.
The Mesora is that we will be notified beforehand. Also, since there is Moshiach ben Yosef and Moshiach ben David we will be aware by the time Moshiach ben David comes.November 21, 2011 7:57 am at 7:57 am #830282
No one knows.
Don’t worry about it.
Have faith that when it comes, you’ll know just like everyone else.November 21, 2011 2:20 pm at 2:20 pm #830283
Elijah the Prophet will come three days before. but what it does mean “come”? Will he just show up in the air?November 21, 2011 2:36 pm at 2:36 pm #830284
Don’t worry! You’ll get an email!November 21, 2011 2:40 pm at 2:40 pm #830285
It has always seemed to me that Moshiach must be alive right now as he must also be in every generation. How else could he come any day?November 21, 2011 2:51 pm at 2:51 pm #830286

The part that he doesn’t have to die is famous. The Arizal says we should Daven for Mashiach ben Yosef not to die, in the Bracha of Vilirushalayim.November 21, 2011 3:57 pm at 3:57 pm #830288
The Ramban describes Moshiach as being an activist speaking to different politicians, and many Yidden will be mocking him and saying that he just wants our money.November 21, 2011 4:18 pm at 4:18 pm #830289
The Ramban writes (Milchamos Hashem siman 24) that nobody is born Moshiach. When Hashem decides that Moshiach should come, someone who is already living is chosen. That is, one cannot know who is Moshiach until the time of the Geulah. Even the one who is chosen does not know about it until that time.November 21, 2011 4:33 pm at 4:33 pm #830290

Please don’t stalk Moshiach. He has to come Behesech Hadaas.November 22, 2011 2:17 pm at 2:17 pm #830294
haleivi – We must yearn for his arrival. That’s one of the things you get judged on in shomayim: did you yearn for the geula?November 28, 2011 1:11 am at 1:11 am #830295
A big question is WHY do you want Moshiach?
