I know it is, cuz Hashem loves me and wants to spare me the pain of fasting…cuz I’m not in the mood.
Srsly though, someone told me of somewhere in a sefer, or torah or midrash or I don’t know what about a prophesy that rights beofre shemitta there would be a war, and it would last all shemittah,and then Moshiach would come….
Ya, ya, you hear all the time that when/if ________ moshiach will come, then it dosen’t….like that time tney said a certain amount of people daven at the entrance to yerushalayim….
So can anyone back this up? Tell me where it’s from? How reliable it is???
Everything is reliable and nothing is certain. Mashiach can come anytime. When he will, no one knows. It’s a secret that Yaakov Avinu was Zocheh to know but his sons weren’t. Anyone who knew enough to give Remazim and Simanim just knew the Remazim. No one can tell you when because no one knows or has known since Yonasan Ben Uziel. He wanted to give a Pshat in Nach that might allow people to figure it out but HKBH didn’t let him.
The question is are we doing as much as we can to bring him. According to the Mesillas Yesharim one fundamental principle is to remember why we want him, not so that our lives will be better or so that the goyim will treat us better. We should want him because when he comes everyone will recognize how great Hashem is and how He rules each and every minute detail of the world with total absolute justice. If we would focus on this and forget about all the other reasons, that could only help bring him sooner.
It would seem from the Rambam (Hilchos Teshuva 9:2) that the ikkar reason to want mashiach is to get rid of the oppression of the nations so that we can learn more Torah and do more mitzvos, thereby earning more Olam Habah:

the ???? says in ??? ??? that moshiach will come at the end of the shmitta year. (of course there are more than one way to calculate years, according to the vilna goan this year is the real shmitta year, but nobody goes like that because of the old minhag in eretz yisroel, [dont worry the rambam also did like that minhag against his own calculation])
there is a tradition from the vilna goan that there is a place by the ???? ??????? that is the place to daven for mosheach.

It comes from the Gemara. The Gemara describes a seven year sequence and that at the end of the seventh Moshiach will come. It might mean the actual Shmita.

Aaaiii, it’s a stirah in the Rambam. The Sefer Hateshuva addresses this stirah and explains

they asked him if mashaich can come on shabbos?

he answered when mashiach comes – he’ll answer.

btw rumour has it that two wweeks ago someone asked r chaim kanvievsky a sheaila to do with tischa baav and r chaim said its not a sheaila as moshiach will be here first. i dont know whether that story is true or not but i know someone personally who r shmuel aurbach told him that for these last few days before mashiach comes he should try be a better person. and another person i know who went to r’ shmuel wosner and r shmuel told him not to return to london as moshiach is coming.
referring to the first story a bochur in yeshiva sent a letter to r’ chaim and part of his sheila was if the rumour is true. he sent it two weeks ago motzei shabbos unfortunately he hasnt received a reply.

The Gemara there was saying 1 day before. But there are Midrashim about three days.
The Gemara say that Eliyahu is one day before Mashiach.
Rav Kanievky seems pretty certain that this is the last Tisha Ba’av… here are a few examples.
*in a speech he said- “Moshiach isn’t behind the door, he is AT the door”
* someone came to him and explained to him that they don’t have a date for a chassunah. so rag kanievsky said they should make it on tisha ba’av because when moshiach comes you can have chassunahs on tisha ba’av.
* someone came to rag kanievsy and asked if he could please write a haskama for his sefer which was a sefer eicha. rag kanievsky said no this sefer will no longer be necessary.
* in nissan, a rosh yeshiva came to rav kanievsky to ask for a brocha because he was about to go on a fundraising trip. the rav said that he refuses to give a brachia because when moshiach comes there will be no need for the funds. The rosh yeshiva cancelled the trip.

Bechol yoim sheyabo doesnt mean every day you should wait for him coming that day or that he can come on shabbos rather every day i wait for his comming nit necesarily today ie if i knew moshiach is comming in a week from know i could wait for him troughout the whole week. There is a GM’ in Taanis that discussess how come cohanim can get drunk R’ Yehuda, if i recall carrectly, says that since he hasnt come in so much timewe could assume he wont come right now
