Last week it was the Gerrer Rebbe. More of our spiritual leaders are talking about Moshiach and Geula, especially with the new month of Nissan – the month of Geula – beginning tomorrow night.

Grand Rabbi Moshe Shternbuch of the Eda Charedit (above image, right), a great grandson of the Gaon of Vilna osb”m, said this past week that the times of the Moshiach are here. His source is the Vilna Gaon himself.

Yiddishm, yishuv Eretz Yisrael is a Mitzvah that (according to many, not all authorities) is noheig now. And observing as many Mitzvos as we can is sure to hasten the Geulah.

I did want to ask you though, ever heard of kibbutz galuyos?

Fear not residents of Flatbush! AFAIK you’re joining the rest of Klal Yisrael in being mekabel p’nei Mashiach Tzidkeinu.

Just for the record, I only singled out Flatbush in response to yiddishmish.

I plan to be oleh regel with Yidden from Melbourne, Milwaukee, Manchester, Mumbai, and points in between.

The Rav in Radin asked the Chofetz Chaim if “he’ll be alive when Moshiach comes”, he said “no” and “neither will you” (speaking to the Rav) “but Moshiach is born and alive now, as we speak”!!

The Russians had Crimea for many years.

But was is famously true, is that a person asked Reb Shloimke Zeviller if he will see Moshiach. Reb Shloimke told him to wait a minute. He Tovelled and told him, ‘you won’t see Moshiach but your eye will see eyes that will see him.’ The man came to some Chadarim and excitedly let the kids know that they will see Moshiach. I know of those children.

in the times of mitzrayim, they did not want to leave because they never knew any other way of life. (there is an argument about this)

when moshiach comes hashem will make us want to lave so bad things will happen in order to make us aware that this is galus and then we will wanna leave.

The best way to show us what we are missing is to hand it to us. The Pasuk in Yecheskel says that the punishment will be in the form of so much abundance that we will be embarrassed of our past behavior.

    HaL, +1,000

I nominate your post #1 post of the month and for the month. (Even though we just started the month of Nisan.)

    #1074800

    who is HaL, +1,000 ??

    what did he post?

    Nolonsemhelp, HaL is HaLeivi.

And instead of joining the doomsayers, he is giving us a hint from Yechezkel HaNavi of the Geulah coming in a time of shefa Brachos. We have already shed so many tears in this long Galus, may it end soon!

If this Crimean war starts heading east it will turn into a third world war – Once it is not longer just Russia and Ukraine, but China could get involved, not to mention the rest of Eastern Europe. And there is no guarantee that nukes won’t be used, even though people know their devastating effects now.

i have also heard rumors about this for many years now, as did my grandparents before me and their grandparents before them. I am not saying moshiach is not on the way and hope he is! but the fact is throughout Jewish history after every tragedy these rumors are amplified.

I find it is in particular people who are not happy with their own lives that are obsessed with moshiach coming any day now. I hope they are right. But in terms of dreams, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard non-Jews dreaming about JC coming to them and telling them things.

we can only hope, but should one quit their day job and use all their savings to move to eretz yisroel? probably not the best idea. As a great rov once said, you should not want moshiach to come for yourself, since this will limit how much you can live with mesiras nefesh. you should only want him to come as a sacrifice for the sake of the world seeing a kidush Hashem.

After the expulsions of 1492 and the Chelminski Massacares the Jews were really begging for a messiah. Someone named Shabbtai Tzvi jumped on these hopes and the rest is history

A Jew is obligated to believe Moshiach will be coming any moment and to be prepared for Moshiach on a moment’s notice.

Which tzadik was it (the Chofetz Chaim) that famously always had a bag ready with him with everything he needed to go to Eretz Yisroel should Moshiach suddenly appear?

Its funny while listening to some of the lectures of Rabbi Kahane on youtube (someone recommended him in another thread for debating dennis prager), in a different lecture he responds to someone in the audience asking him about rumors that moshiach is going to come in 2 years from that time (then 1986). He basically says someone who doesn’t think moshiach is coming soon in this special time is blind- 29 years have since passed. This very well can be a special time- but the period of transition might be a lot longer and gradual than we think.

For some, waiting for moshiach fills the same role as buying that 1 lottery ticket with a possible 100 million dollar pay off- it gives us the happiness of hope and the pleasure of fantasy. I know a popular saying is that one of the keys to hapiness is always have something to hope for- no matter what you may already have. maybe thats what Hashem intended. That the gift of the moshiach is as much before he comes as after.

Joseph, yes, I believe it was the Chofetz Chaim. He also used to study all the halachos regarding doing the avodah in the Beis HaMikdash. He said that as a Kohen, he’d be expected to serve in the Beis HaMikdash, so he needed to know how!

I was also told by R’ Yaakov Bender shlita that R’ Nosson Wachtfogel zt”l kept a packed bag for when Mashiach would come. One time, a bochur was practicing blowing shofar in the dormitory. For years, R’ Nosson used to stay in the dormitory during the week, and he was there when the bochur started blowing. The bochur recounted how a few seconds after he blew the shofar, R’ Nosson came running down the stairs, carrying his special bag, asking, “Is it the shofar of Mashiach??? Is he here???”

newbee: While I hear your point, I don’t think it’s a good comparison. You buy a lotto ticket knowing the odds are so slight, but you say, “Hey, it’s only a dollar to play!” With Mashiach, we should have more belief than that!

“You buy a lotto ticket knowing the odds are so slight, but you say, “Hey, it’s only a dollar to play!”

but if Hashem wants you to win the odds are not so slight anymore, Hashem can cause the number you picked to be drawn. Perhaps it was destined the number you picked was to be drawn since the beginning of time. So it still allows for hope. (note* Im not saying you should or should not play the lottery).

    thanks for hearing my point.

    LOL

    Thanks for the laugh, apushata.

You meet a lot of interesting people in the CR.

People who say Tachanun on 5 (or 4) Iyar.

    People who don’t.

People who say Ani Ma’amin every day.

And people who only say it when they hear in the grocery that their neighbor had a dream.

I haven’t noticed any such instructions in my siddur.

But there’s no Bracha on talking fish in there either…

    #1074820

I personally wouldn’t believe anything that fish says, he tells all kinds of tall tales.

And people who only say it when they hear in the grocery that their neighbor had a dream.

i take it that this was directed at me

i brought this here as a “moshiach rumor” not an “ani maamin”

i dont need to hear it from someone to believe that moshiach could come any day (and i sure hope it happens)

i’m very insulted i was contrasted with someone who says “ani maamin” everyy day (even though they probably don’t mean it

    Hi coffee ad!

    So sorry!

    And genuinely wish to apologize.

Saying Ani Ma’amin and then insulting people is an odd sort of tovel v’sheretz beyado; welcoming Mashiach with one hand and stopping him from advancing with the other.

    Not my intention at all.

    And nothing personal intended.

Though of course it’s impossible to get personal when you don’t know who the person behind the screen name is. You could be my next door neighbor. Or live 5,000 miles away. Or you could be me myself- I love coffee. Drinking one now. I’d offer to buy you one, but those pesky mods… There- I think I just insulted someone else.

Better just sign off with best wishes to all and hope to meet when the day finally arrives! Could be today, so I better get my act together…
