Rav leizer Ginsberg put out a warning that if you have a plastic seal that is peeling from on top of your retzuah then it is passul! Although the eidah and most sofrimsay that it isn’t a problem, rav Shmuel kamenetsky rav Yisroel Reimsman and rav Sholom Miller say that it must be replaced! In fact rav Dovid Feinstein also didn’t like it!

That’s like making a blanket issur on chicken because there was a tragic incident where one store brought in treife chickens. How does anyone here truly know that that’s how almost all retzuos are made? I grant that there are some that are indeed posul. Did the quoted poskim address this as a “Most retzuos are possul” issue, or were they responding to specific shailos?
As with all such public proclamations, buyer beware. It is important to raise the issue for public awareness. But the sounding of an alarm is more often not warranted. Essentially, it brands most sofrim as well as stores that sell tefillin as dishonest and machshilei es horabim. Can anyone here provide evidence and warnings from the Gedolei Haposkim that substantiates this call for alarm?

Did you read my comment? I am not engaging discussion about the halacha of whether these retzuos states kasher or possul. I can choose to defer to Rav Shmuel Kaminetzky shlit”a or to other poskim. My issue is the alarm that you are sounding. You brazenly claim that my retzuos are possul, and that the hundreds of mispallelim in the shul where I daven have retzuos that are possul. I am challenging that. And you have not responded with anything that suggests that there is basis for such proclamation. Please do so. If you cannot, it casts serious doubt about the veracity of anything you say.

There is daas torah also on how to warn the public of a possible michshol.
Did you ask Rav Shmuel Kaminetzky shlita or Rav Shlomo Miller shlita:
1) if you should make a post on YWN telling everyone that most retzuos are posul !
2) and calling people who don’t change today a karkafta dlo manach teffilin
3) and you should borrow someone elses?Compare the way that Rav Eliezer Ginsburg made the announcement to yours.
I will quote the public announcement by Rav Eliezer Ginsburg shlita in the Flatbush Jewish Journal of March 11, Page 3.(Archives are online.)
Rav Eliezer Ginsburg has issued a warning “It is possible that instead of coloring the retzuos a plastic coating was put on them, which is not acceptable.
If you suspect this is the case with your teffillin show it to a reliable sofer. ”Similarly, if the eruv is down, don’t tell one on the street.

As people grow from children into adults one of the things life teaches is that sometimes the method of delivering a message can completely take away – and even ruin – the message itself. Interpret that however you’d like.
Do you know for sure that they say black and black is pasul even bdieved? If so please quote where you know this from
I wear my tefillin sixty years, so I don’t have to worry about this.

BH my Rav did because I got it one time (that’s how I know) so I switched it to kosher retzuos (I can tell these are kosher, they’re different then the one I had before)
The title of this thread should be reworded, ‘Most Retzuas Made Currently are Probably Passul
