is there such a concept of being called a rasha if you drop your nails on the floor? like if you just peel em, and drop them?

Rebbitzen and popa-bar-abba, it is a befeyrushe gemora in Moed Koton 18A: somebody who just throws the nails down is a rasha( for thwe reason mentioned by Helpful).
The Gemorah (Moed Katan 18a; Niddah 17a) tells us that “the righteous burn their nails, the pious bury them, and the wicked carelessly discard them.”
The Gemorah explains that nail clippings must be carefully disposed of lest a pregnant woman pass over them and miscarry.

Based on the above it would be prudent for a pregnant woman to avoid a nail salon.
There is a belief that cut nails can cause a miscarriage in a pregnant woman who steps on them. I don’t know if this is a genuinely-based mesorah, or a bubbah meisa, but you ARE supposed to flush them down the toilet and do negel vasser after you cut them. So the answer would be, if throwing nails on the floor could potentially cause a miscarriage, yes it would be the act of a rasha who cares nothing for others.

If I recall correctly, the miscarriage problem is only by nails that were cut normally. I don’t think that one is considered a rasha if they drop peeled or bitten nails
YW Mod, I think the gemora includes the bitten nails. Double-check,please.
This is just a recollection I had. Don’t take my word for it, look into it if you are worried.
I heard it’s only a sakana if you step on the nail from the opposite gender. i.e. if a woman steps on a man’s nail or a man steps on a woman’s nail. (I heard this in seminary, when we were only girls living in the dorm, and a girl asked a teacher about it)

The gemara that is the source for this (Moed Katan 18a) specifically says that if they are dropped on the floor and then moved or swept to another place they lose the power to cause problems. The only time they can cause a miscarriage according to the gemara is when you cut or bite off your nail, drop it on the floor, and it stays there.
Mod, The Gemara mentions it as a difference but knocks it off saying that regardless, you must be carefull.
One of the Rishonim there says that it has to be moved to a different room to stop being a problem.
Boy, I must *really* be wicked. One day I was hammering together two pieces of wood while standing on a ladder. I had a box of nails on the top step of the ladder and accidentally knocked them off and onto the floor. Although, to be fair, I did pick them up afterward. 🙂

So if it were a bochurim dirah in Israel [no chance of a pregnant woman passing through] shouldn’t it be permitted to drop the nails on the floor, since nobody can possibly get harmed?
FYI: The halacha clearly states that “you don’t need to be careful in a bais medrash – since woman don’t come into it” – unless it’s a shul that has a “Rabba” of course, and in that case the halacha was wrong all those years, and Rabbi Avi Weiss was right….

Rebbetzin: Who “Peels and drops” nails? LOL Sounds like orange peels. Yes you are not suppose to dispose of them any other way except for in a manner in which they are sure never to come in contact with another human. Which is why burning them or flushing are most usual manner people dispose of them.
There is actually something dangerous to stepping on a finger nail, lying in its’ exact location on the floor where it originally fell. In other words, if you clip your nails but think you saw one flying and don’t know where, you should give a quick sweep to the floor area in order to mix up where it may have fell and that way if you do step on it….

Some people don’t seem to have a sense of humor.
There is no lashon hara about someone who is trying to reform Judaism.
Avi Weiss is a Reformed Rabbi. In fact he’s far worse.
He want’s people to think that his new warped mehalech is Orthodoxy. That is alot worse and far more dangerous than someone who preaches that they are reformed.

I have always wondered whether this inyan of the nails causing a miscarriage is a simple sakanah, i.e., the woman may be sharply pierced and jump or become startled or suddenly frightened; or whether it is a kabbalistic reason that has nothing to do with a natural danger.
As far as the first possibility, I believe the gemara has a story about a woman who miscarried when she heard a dog bark.

Reb PashutaYid, the Gemara in Nida brings this in a context of other Ruach Ra Inyonim.
Nobody is a rasha for doing things they didn’t know and nobody is a rasha for good. You stop the bad behavior and you are alright.
Of course. Anyone can do teshuva. Simply stop doing the aveira and dispose of the nails properly.
BTW, the proper way to dispose of nails is either to burn them or bury them.
