Why are Beis Yaakovs called Beis Yaakov? They are girls schools. Should they not be named Beis Rochel or Beis Leah or Beis Sarah or something of the sort?
Imagine a boys Yeshiva named Toras Devorah.

It would have been less confusing if it was “Banos Yaakov”, but no one thought of it at the time. Most other Jewish girls’ school are “Bnos ….. ” and/or have a female name.
IF someone named Devorah paid for the school, no problem with “Toras Devorah.” Think of the people who have names such as Gittleman or Estherman – men have had no trouble with names that show who provides the money.
As he said, “Ko Somar LiBeis Yaakov viSageid LiBinei Yisrael” and Rashi there as he quoted, is the likely source. But there are schools with at least some of the names you mentioned, too.
Look in this week’s parsha. Bais Rochels are Satmar’s Bais Yaakovs.
There are Beis Rochel, Beis Leah, Beis Sarah, bais Shaindel, Bais Tziporah, Bais Tova, Bais Rivkah…I am sure many more wonderful jewish women.
And, just for the record, the first mainstream Jewish school for girls was not Beis Yaakov, but Yavneh.
