What are the best tips to negotiate lower prices and larger discounts when making purchases at retail stores or service providers?
Just tell the shopkeeper that you are willing to pay no more than $X.
Can you negotiate a lower price for everything at all local stores (toys, clothing, food) or service (plumber, electrician)?
I haven’t found that its acceptable to negotiate with a retail store, however with regards to electricians plumbers and similar contractors Theres definitely room to negotiate in fact I feel that their original price was inflated expecting the cliend or customer to pull it down a bit so the way i see it is that if I don’t negotiate I’m giving away extra money he didn’t even expect. Why should I do that.
You can negotiate a better price with anyone, including local retailers or phone sales (including phoning or chatting an online retailer). Just be prepared to walk away from the deal, if necessary.
If you don’t negotiate, you overpay.
