Hello everyone, I am new here.

I wanted to inform the community of an awful advertisement aired on 77 WABC that is paid for by the Neturei Karta, ostensibly in response to the Israeli Prime Minister’s speech. I am no major Zionist, but this ad publicizes the divide in Jewish society, denouncing the creation and existence of the state of Israel, denying it any legitimacy, and effectively egging on the unsavory parts of liberal American and world society. The ad denies that any “real” Jews could possibly support the state of Israel, effectively delegitimizing and attempting to ostracize any and all of our Israeli brethren, and any American Jews who support the state of Israel, and ends in specifying a URL which redirects to the main Neturei Karta website, which I will not deign to mention here.

This sort of ad is an embarrassment, a basis for the anti-Semites to use to their ends, and worst of all, a chillul Hashem in its revelation of sinas chinam.

I am no expert in community matters, but perhaps some counter-advertisement or press release is in order.

A counter ad won’t do any good. They got their message out. And everyone knows the pro-Israel positions, so what good will another ad do?

Wouldn’t you just love to know who paid for that ad?

Someone should follow the money trail.

Probably Hamas, or some other terrorist group…

Nachum Segal posted something about this on his Facebook page. Perhaps, since I’m sure 77 ABC knows the demographics of its listeners, we all call the station and let them know we won’t listen if they run ads from those poor excuses for human beings.

It was an ad by Natruna. Natruna is not the Ku Klutz Karta. They do not consort with sonei Yisroel. Theirs is a valid Jewish position and some of what they say needs to be heard.

Problem is, it does not need to be heard outside the Jewish community. When a Jew does not support the medine, it is out of ahavas Yisroel and love for E”Y. When the likes of the ACORN-fed occupant of the White House do not support the medine, it is out of plain old anti-Semitism. Even the Satmarer Rov, who Natruna follows, made that clear.

600kilo: I’m pretty sure the Satmar Rebbe protested in public outside the Israeli counsel in Manhattan and also used to put ads (via the Hisachdus) in the NY Times explaining the Torah’s opposition to the State.

    #773020

He may have protested against the desecration of graves and/or Shabbos in EY. He also refused to bail out a couple of his hotheads who got wild and ended up in jail while demonstrating.

The Satmar Rov, Reb Amram etc were yechidei segula. Engaging in this type of kanois without a leader on that level is dangerous.

When were the ads placed? The Satmarer Rov (Reb Yoilish ZYA) was physically unwell from 5726 until 26 Av 5739 when he left our world. There was much going on in Satmar that he was not able to control after he had a stroke, and his successors never had the kind of control that he once did.

600kilobear, I’m like you. I don’t believe that the outside world should know all of Jewish affairs, but I really wish that they would at least see that some of these groups actually make more sense than people give them credit for.

I’m not for the Neturei Karta, but most people don’t give them the credit that they do have some very good points (but they are about 90 years too late in trying to enfore them), since the rabbis in the 1920’s & 30’s were very opposed to the State of Israel. In fact, when I studied the history of the 1st & 2nd Aliyah, I was amazed at how opposed the rabbis were to the whole situation.

Like snuggling up to the president of Iran and attending holocaust denying conferences?

Even the Satmar excommunicated Neutrei Karta after going to Iran

I simply do not understand how anyone can support, publicly, the position that these people preach. Do they not realize that their public displays serve to legitimize the actions of anti-semites to harm ALL Jews? It is the most vile display of sonas yisrael when these people are seen shaking hands and even embracing the very person who has openly supported known terrorist organizations and has pledged to wipe Israel off the face of the map. Make no mistake about it – his goal is to be rid of the Jewish People as a whole, not just the state. Anyone who is unable to see that is either delusional or in serious denial!

There was a Pro-Palestianian rally in Washington DC a few years ago ON SHABBOS

Neutrei Karta was there ON THE DAIS (They did not speak)

There is freedom of speech, and 77 WABC is generally totally supportive of Israel, but a paid ad, is a paid ad. The Neturei Karta, DO consort with sonei Yisroel, and on that basis, there should be a backlash against them, whether or not they make ANY viable points. They hurl their venomous rhetoric on the most public of forums, make a considerable Chillul, because people who view them as frum hold them up in a,”See, even the ultra Orthodox Jews are against Israel,” way, which undermines OTHER frum segments of our population who are staunch supporters. It should only be battled from within, however. We do not need the world to be an arena in which they see Jewish factions duke it out.

Not ALL the rabbis — some gedolim were Zionists.

charliehall…I was going to mention that as well, but it’s seems many ignore that fact.

I have yet to meet a Jew that realizes this….

I think I know what you’re getting at, but I don’t have time to look into it before Shabbos begins. But you mean like Rav Kook, etc, right?

Are we talking about the same thing here though? For instance, the rabbis were not against Jews making aliyah & small groups of Jews always have been making aliyah for the past 2,000 years. They were all for that. But the rabbis were against the massive “wall” of Jews making an “Aliyah”, since they knew that it would disrupt the inhabitants of the land…which as we see it did.

I would like to say I am personally very against Neturei Karta but even if somebody thinks that theres nothing wrong with them that does not justify in any shape or form or manner an advertisement on the Radio against Eretz Yisrael we are Chas Veshalom putting ourselves in danger by allowing these things to go on in our midst. Secondly I would like to say that I am saddened by WABC that they stoop so low to put this ad up just for money its disgusting.

There is no freedom on Speech on WABC Radio or any other radio station.

Freedom of speech applies ONLY on public property. WABC has the right to allow or reject anything they please, its considered private property.

If there was freedom of speech as some have claimed, A worshipper of another religion would have the right to preach on your doorstep claiming “Freedom of Speech”

BIG CORRECTION: The ad does not involve Neturei Karta. It is from NATRUNA (www.jewsagainstzionism.com). Different approach completely. You people are not very careful in what you see out there!
