Just wondering if there are any hearing impaired/deaf people out there with cochlear implants who take music lessons, in particular, violin lessons. I have a child with bilateral CI and i feel that music lessons may be the best outlet and good therapy. I particularly love the guitar. But i am open to any musical instrument. Which instrument would be best?

If the child can hear with CI (B”H), I think it would be wonderful for them to learn to play an instrument. I am not certain about the violin, because of its placement, and the position in which the head is usually held, but if the CI is internal,I would think it could work. Go for it, but speak to the doc first, to make sure there would not be any contraindication

Thanks oomis. I hear what your saying. However, as a hearing mother, as much as i know and understand about the CI, i dont know how my child hears sound.

Do you know anyone with a CI that plays any instrument? How do they sound? Do you know anyone with a CI that can post something here?
