I’m sick and tired of being told my behavior is “not ladylike”. This isn’t blazed victorian england, and I don’t care if the countess of shnipishuk used to sip her tea with her left pinkie pointed left and her right elbow against her ear.

I’ll eat my hamburgers with both hands if that’s how I blast it want to. This is America and it’s July 4th and I’ll eat my American food like an American person.

Why is someone telling YOU that your behavior should be ladylike?

And, chevra, raise your hand if you also just mimed sipping tea with your pinky in the air and elbow next to your ear :).

Guess what Popa, you’re in luck. No need to eat like a lady. Our noble religion doesn’t really differentiate between genders when it comes to eating… Just eat like a mentsch and don’t forget to cut up your pizza.

    They don’t understand that you’re “perhaps a man”…

Why are you an abba, a popa, man, and lady all at the same time???? Was this at a merscerade party or something???? Disguised as a lady?

I’m sick and tired of being told my behavior is “not ladylike”.

    That was not ladylike.

Perhaps it would be more ladylike to have said, “Is it possible that I am occasionally told that I am not ladylike too often? I do apologize if that is the case. Is there anything I can do to lessen the frequency of my being told that I am not ladylike?”

If it was more “ladylike” you’d have a problem, unless you are ……………..

Mammele: So now you’re discriminating *against* being ladylike? Why eat like a mentch? He should eat like a lady.

    Wait a second.

You have a right to eat your burger with two hands, except when you’ve eaten most of it and are down to a small piece. Then it looks like a mouse chomping on a piece of cheese.

My concern is that if you are to the point of being both sick and tired of being told your behavior is not ladylike, how many times are you being told this? Is it the same person or numerous individuals?

Also, if so many people are telling you this, think about the rest of us who notice it and are not saying anything. For every person who tells you this, there could be ten out there who noticed, but said nothing.

I suggest compromising with the world. Maybe try using a knife and fork with your burger. BUT..after cutting a small piece of burger place the knife down, switch the fork back to the other hand, and then prong and eat.

    Chewing is whole other story.

If only one person is telling you this it’s probably their problem, not yours….
