After the siyum hashas last night, I started brachos. Until now I haven’t learned the daf because I don’t think an hour is enough time to learn a daf properly, but I’ve learned brachos several times already and an hour is plenty of time for chazara.
Has anyone else here started daf yomi this cycle? If so, what number “trip” is this through shas?

August 2, 2012 10:42 pm at 10:42 pm #889479ItcheSrulikMemberIt’s always good to get a head start. I saw plenty of people doing the same thing on the bus back from the siyum.
August 2, 2012 11:13 pm at 11:13 pm #889480Sam2ParticipantI’ll be starting tomorrow and I’ve never completed Daf Yomi before (though I generally start every Masechta with the Daf, but I rarely complete them; other time considerations just take over).

August 3, 2012 6:41 pm at 6:41 pm #889482YW Moderator-42ModeratorZeeskite, did Mommy start the daf? Maybe Goldentroll is your Mommy?
August 3, 2012 6:45 pm at 6:45 pm #889483MDGParticipantI’m suffering through Daf Heh 🙂
I wanna head start for Shabbat and Eruvin.
August 3, 2012 9:49 pm at 9:49 pm #889484147ParticipantI utilize Daf Yomi as a Chazoro, meaning that about a year before a certain Mesechto is coming up, I go thru it at a slow pace, but timing it to be ready on time for when Daf Yomi reaches it.
The Minus is that I end up doing approx. every 4th or 5th Messechto, but the Plus is, that I reasonably well know what is transpiring, and upon Chazoro etc. remember it from the last time.
