    Now going on two weeks, I find it hard to feel sympathy for them, I found most nurses in any major NYC hospital to be rude and nasty to the patients and family members, most earn in the 200 K range, the only competent friendly nurses were the travel nurses.

    These nurses are murderers. Deaths have already occurred due to their strike. They should all be summarily fired and permanently banned from ever again working in the health system.

    @ujm, I think more lives were safe with them not being at work, they were replaced by nurses who are good but without the attitude

    Most NYC bedside nurses do not earn anywhere near $200K. Union contracts and hospital pay scales put typical salaries far lower, unless someone is working heavy overtime or specialty shifts. If you have data showing otherwise, feel free to share it.

    “Most” nurses in “any” major NYC hospital – you seem to hang out there alot. How many hospitals have you been to?

    NY times “The three hospital systems affected by the strike said their nurses on average make about $160,000 a year and are seeking raises that could propel nurses’ salaries on average past $200,000, according to the hospitals.” this directly from the union.

    Unfortunately between my wife and kids, Columbia, Mt, Sinai, Cornell, Lenox Hill and NYU, the worse of the worse as far as nurses with a nasty attitude is concerned is Mt. Sinai

    Why are people making generalizations about nurses? I happen to be a nurse and I know many great and caring nurses. Some are nasty but others aren’t just like the rest of the population. I don’t either know who makes 200k

    Black nurses are THE WORST.

    I feel sorry for anyone who depends on Black nurses.

    @Moshe, my daughter in law is a nurse but she does not work in a NYC hospital for that reason, the focus is union rules and not working too hard, not on caring for the patient.

    It’s pathetic to demonize a whole population. As a nurse I’ve had the opposite experience and find most of black nurses to be very dedicated and caring.

    @SR, I had nasty white nurses and kind black ones, the unionized nurses were the ones who were nasty and the per diem or travel ones where the caring ones, because they were focused on care not on union rules
