This is utter insanity in NYC.
The city should tell them all to stay home, and hire new drivers. Make this non-union.
Enough is enough.
Disgusting. http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/article.php?p=152977
This is literally mafia at its finest.

January 16, 2013 9:44 pm at 9:44 pm #921249FerdParticipantIt’s high-time the union is let go. The city is held hostage by these jerks.
January 16, 2013 11:52 pm at 11:52 pm #921250funnyboneParticipantWhat would you say to welfare to workfare? All people who are on welfare should be told to learn how to drive a bus (or become a matron, I wonder what qualifications are necessary for that job) and get to work? Same for sanitation workers etc.
January 17, 2013 8:14 pm at 8:14 pm #921251miritchkaMemberFrom what i understand, they want some sort of agreement that they will be hired for another year. That is so unfair to let out their frustrations on children and their parents who have nothing to do with them! I also want a guarantee that i wont lose my job! Too bad! if my boss decides to get rid of me for a new, cheaper hire, it’s my loss! It’s not fair, but its my loss! What am i gonna do, lock myself to my desk until i get the guarantee?!
Besides, i heard the city pays about $6000 per year per child for transportation (i dont know how they calculate that as so many many children go on the buses and many buses are overcrowded) Why shouldnt the city be allowed to look for a better deal?!
January 17, 2013 9:56 pm at 9:56 pm #921252rescue37ParticipantVarious articles have said that the average salary is $35,000 a year. While I am geenrally not a union believer, even accounting for the vacation and summer they get, I fully understand the union trying to protect the drivers.
January 17, 2013 11:00 pm at 11:00 pm #921253$35,000 + full benefits and pension starting salary for working 5 hours a day (2.5 hours each in the morning and afternoon) and 2 months paid summer vacation every year, is quite a deal.
January 18, 2013 4:52 pm at 4:52 pm #921254YentaParticipantDay 3, and the union mafia thugs are still keeping NYC hostage.
Where is Ronald Reagan when you need him?

Yenta:- Maybe:- How about George W. Taylor? He probably could draft a much better Taylor Law, that can Ronald Reagan.
January 21, 2013 5:15 pm at 5:15 pm #921256miritchkaMemberGosh, day 4 of no busses. Doesnt matter that today is MLK, its still part of the strike and its horrible. I wouldnt give those busdrivers anything for pulling something like this on children…(and their parents!!)
