An open letter to my brothers and sisters,
I’m not a rabbi or a tzaddik, just a member that wants to help.
We’ve been duped. After talking to many people and listening to the way people talk about the plight of our nation, at a Kiddush or from letters to editors, the theme and feeling is a common one. I myself have been worrying about this for some time. A feeling of doom, of seeing the trajectory of our holy klal towards a downward spiral rachmana litzlan. “We have this problem, and that issue and it’s only going to get worse,” and “the world is so bad how can we grow in this atmosphere?” We lost hope. I’ve heard from my Rebbeim that the ytzr harah knows we can do tshuvah, what he wants more than our avairos is for us to give up.
As someone who went through some struggles in his life, and as an older single, I have learnt from my battles a very important lesson; no matter how dismal everything looks, no matter how bleak the future is, never give up because there is always hope. Yeshuas Hashem khe’eref ayin. Of all the smoke and mirror schemes the ytzrh harah played on us, this time we’ve been tricked into thinking it can’t get better. Klal Yisroel is a macro version of a jew. When anyone goes through tough times, when he or she is suffering and can’t go on, when a person feels like he fell very low, we tell them to have hope, because there is hope. It’s time to realize that these aren’t just nice sayings and fluff, they are true. Any Rebbi that had to help a bachur said it, any Rov knows it, any person who had hard times knows it, and people that really grew who failed on the way know it. Now, we as a people-at-risk must internalize that regardless of how bad things look, there is hope- sweet glorious beautiful sunny hope. We can smile. We should smile.
This isn’t a call for action to be mispalled (which we should) because that isn’t the point I’m trying to make. The Ramchal has a whole maamer hakivuy explaining how btachon and hope in Hashem is the actual pipeline itself that brings salvation. Bitachon is powerful. “Baruch hagever asher yivtach bashem” because then “Vhaya Hashem Mivtacho.”
They say from R’ Tzadok that just like we have to believe in Hashem, we have to believe in ourselves. This applies to Klal Yisroel too, we as an am kadosh have to believe in our ability to flourish, because we can. It is possible. Who cares how bad things look like they’re going, we are never miyaish.Though I am not breslov, R Nachman of Breslov, who was known for stressing the importance of always having hope and never giving up, teaches that despite being on really low levels Hashem is always there with someone. The same is true for our klal. We learn from the megillah that even when we don’t see the yad Hashem clearly, he is still always taking care of us in the hester. These aren’t just Chassidic themes, they are talked about by everyone nowadays. We can learn from our battling brothers and sisters in the dirt and let ourselves be optimistic. We should be positive and relieved that the Master of the Universe is taking care of us. Since nothing else is working, we’re beginning to understand that the only place to put our trust and hope in is Hashem. It isn’t always easy but it’s the unadulterated truth. Kavai el Hashem, chazak vyaametz libecha, vkavai el Hashem.
Awaiting and believing in the redemption no matter what, and allowing the hope to brew.I think it’s excellent. -100

July 24, 2017 2:47 pm at 2:47 pm #1324600WinnieThePoohParticipantTo continue inspiring, and to make it easier to have that emuna and positive attitude, let’s take the next step- let’s post things that show (to paraphrase oyyoyyoy) how the Am Kodesh is flourishing, things that are hopeful, positive, about Am Yisroel, as a whole, as a community, or as individuals. No negative comments, no bashing, no talking about heads in sand. Just be melamed zechus. We can sure use it.
Here’s an example: our local phone book has a whole listing of gemachim- where people all over the neighborhood lend out for free everything from Bris pillows to nebulizers to baby supplies to Purim costumes. Our communities have perfected chessed!

The Jewish Positive Thinking workshops are similar, and they give lots of chizzuk to have hope and joy in your yiddishkeit.July 26, 2017 3:42 am at 3:42 am #1325405PosterGirlParticipantLook at how many amazing organizations we have in our community! Just to name a few:
Hatzoloh, Chaveirm, Chai Lifeline, RCCS, Bein Ish, Tomche Shabbos, Ezer L’yeshivos, Agudas YisroelHelp me out here and add some more!
July 26, 2017 1:50 pm at 1:50 pm #1325752WinnieThePoohParticipantHow about this one:
My boys’ cheder is doing a wonderful job. The boys love learning! So much so, that one son’s very rambunctious 3rd grade class have been making siyumim all year long, on perakim of mishnayos that the boys learn independently, in addition to what they are learning in class. (Can I kvell a bit? My son finished all of seder moed with his father)
I am sure this is not the only school that is doing things right.August 2, 2017 3:38 am at 3:38 am #1330486oyyoyyoyParticipantto add to WTP’s list, sounds like thousands went to the chofetz chaim heritage foundation video today. WHich i guess means they thought about watching what they say for at least a few seconds as well.
