Why did YWN post an article about organ donation – yes, they put in a disclaimer that ” YWN is not in any way endorsing organ donations. Consult with your local Rov regarding this issue. YWN is simply reporting the news that occurred.”, but why post it in the first place? The is literally nothing of value in the entire article other that that the organs of an IDF soldier in an accident were donated. Why is that news, unless you find such a thing heart-warming?

    Did you read the article?

    Yes?

Well, that’s why they posted it.

Why did you think YWN represents Yeshivish views any more than the Jewish Week does?

The question was asked by the נודע ביהודה מהדורא תנינא יורה דעה סימן רי about learning by doctors on a dead person. He rules that as long the person saved is in front of us, we can save him by removing a body part but not for learning for the future.

A live person giving up a kidney was questioned by Rabbi Ovadyeh Yosef in Yechaveh Daas Chelek 3 Yorei Deah 84 who says that not only you are allowed to, but it is a mitzva to save someone.

I am very biased when it comes to organ transplants. Eldest BIL lived 24 years with a cadaver kidney transplant. When the transplanted organ failed he had a live transplant from my nephew and that was 13 years ago
