i just recieved my passaic tax bill for the 3rd and 4th qtr period and it
seems like the taxes went up 12%!!! i called the assessor office and they
confirmed that yes it was inded a 12% tax increase now!!! Where are our elected
leaders??? No one should complain abiout this increase if they didn’t go out
and vote in the last school board elections, as the city is required to collect
taxes for the county, city and board of ed…our cites school budget passed by
51 votes!!! If everyone would have take the time to go out and vote NO on the
budget, then maybe our increase would have been less(let no one from the board of
ed fool you in saying that had it not passed then there would have been a
decrease in special ed funding for our community!!) The passaic board of ed is
required to provide under federal law 94-142,”a free and appropriate education
to all students, so that if a child is truly in need of therapy they will
recieve those services!!! As we have started numerous organizations in town
(hatzoloah, shomrim, etc…)is there anyone with legal and or accounting
experience to try and come together to see if we as a community can do a class
action litigation against the city( as they’ve done in lakewood and monsey,
etc..) to fight not neccsarily the tax rate which is universal for the city but
to fight the unjust assemsnets in our part of town(those in other parts of the
city have lower assesments)..any other ideas?

That could result in a higher assessment anda higher tax bill. It wouldn’thurt to challenge it. In Nassau assessments are routinely challenged
