    Real or not?

Do you want to see who you once were?

And how many times you have been a gilgul????

First I need to find out who I am in this lifetime.

Chazal tells us not to be concerned with these things. It’s an escapism from reality, and Hashem wants us to focus on the here and now. And what will it help you?

It’s not for us, it’s not going to help you grow in Yiddishkeit. It’ll only serve as a distraction from our Tafkid, and our learning, and what we can accomplish, which is incredible in it’s potential.

At one time I had an interest in these matters, and the words I’m repeating are from the Talmid Chochom I spoke to about it. Trust me, you’ll be better off dismissing it.

I don’t know if you should call that Gilgul. Gilgul is a deep concept that has to do with the Neshama. This seems to be about the same person being born again (which is what the Emunos Vedei’os addressed).

Anyhow, I know someone who did this and it sounded fascinating. Later on he started wondering if the questions and prodding created the person in his imagination. Who knows, but sure sounds like fun.

@Shopping – What answer did I give you in your previous life? 😉

Like someone had a water trauma, no one knew why. From the day he was born he was traumatized, no type of therapy helped, till he “found out” in his last 2 lives he drowned and died.

I am not sure if it’s real, just wondering the CR’s opinion since it looked like an interesting article in the ami, but sounded a little fake

Considering that hypnotism increases a person’s suggestibility, and considering that hypnotists that “show” you your past lives charge for their services, I would be very, very, skeptical of any “past lives” one “remembers” in these sessions.

The real question is: can it change who you were in a previous gilgul? Presumably if one has a natural proclivity toward toeiva it’s to compensate for previous gilgulim’s choices. If so perhaps there’s potential to change a person’s natural nisyonos. Let’s do this!
