This does not appear to be in line with human nature people are always more inclined to look at the faults of others while ignoring their own. What is the Yeshivish take on this?
April 20, 2015 4:39 pm at 4:39 pm #1098515akupermaParticipantThe folk saying can also refer to people who are very vulnerable should think twice before commenting, e.g., a frum person supporting laws that prohibit Islamic dress, or laws that limit the “rights” of Christians who observe a Sunday day of rest.
April 20, 2015 4:46 pm at 4:46 pm #1098516theprof1ParticipantChazal say that Kol haposel, bemumoh posel. One who demeans another by using a flaw is actually citing his own flaw. Rather than throwing stones, one is told to always judge another favorably. My feeling is that you don’t judge anybody but yourself. I don’t recall G-d saying to me, you can be a judge over others. And, there’s always another side to what seems to be a story.

Chazal state that [one of] the mistake
of Nadav and Avihu was in not taking counsel with “Moshe their Rebbe, Aharon their father, or even each other.” Many Meforshim explain that had they asked each other, they would have realized that what they were about to do was wrong. Although each one thought it was a good idea for himself, this was due to his personal bias (whatever Yetzer Hara was involved here). When asked by his brother whether it was a good idea, each would have seen that it was not correct. If even Nadav and Avihu (think, ?????? ????) “lived in glass houses”…
