Hey Y’all!
Whose excited for more Matza?!?!?!?!?!?! Well, at least we don’t have to worry about constipation this time around! And we only need a bissel of it. I am pumped! What else are we supposed to do for pesach sheni besides eating matzo?

Think of tonite in 3 years time, when on evening of April 23rd, 2016 we will be eating a lot of Matzo at the 2nd Seder.
April 24, 2013 2:21 am at 2:21 am #948180yaakov doeParticipantDelicious shmura and 4 kosos for Pesach Shani after a long wait.
April 24, 2013 2:36 am at 2:36 am #948181VogueMemberzalmam? we should be enthusiastic about doing mitzvos! In fact, there was once a rabbi who would run around his bedroom for an hour in order to “wake up like a lion”. I think you could use som training on enthusiasm!
April 24, 2013 2:42 am at 2:42 am #948182simcha613ParticipantWhy do we eat matzah on Pesach Sheini? Even during the Beis HaMikdash there was no halachah for anyone to eat matzah on Pesach Sheini. Pesach Sheini was the day when the Korban Pesach was shechted for those who couldn’t make it the first time around. They ate the matzah that night with the Korban Pesach (on Motzei Pesach Sheini).
April 24, 2013 3:17 am at 3:17 am #948183Sam2ParticipantVogue: Maybe that was his point. There’s no Mitzvah to eat Matzah on Pesach Sheni.
April 24, 2013 3:33 am at 3:33 am #948184VogueMemberR U SERIOUS?!?!? I didn’t know that, and here I was so eager to eat matzah to fulfill the mitzvah.
April 24, 2013 3:51 am at 3:51 am #948185147ParticipantThere’s no Mitzvah to eat Matzah on Pesach Sheni.
But rather on the evening of Iyyor 15th at time when Korban Pesach Shenie was being consumed with Matzo & Morror.
In addition, it is very praiseworthy to read thru Shelishi of Beha’alosecho = Kerias haToroh of Shishi Shel Pesach [1st 3 Aliyas of that day’s Kerias haToroh] during afternoon hours of Pessach Shenie.
April 24, 2013 3:55 am at 3:55 am #948186Sam2Participant147: There’s no Mitzvah to eat Matzah then anyway. Some are Noheg to do it as a Zecher for when we had the Beis Hamikdash, but there is no Mitzvah whatsoever.

Others eat Matza on the night of the 15th of Iyar as well because just like by Pesach we bring the Korban Pesach on the 14th but only ate it at night on the 15th, so too on Pesach Sheini. The Zichron Yehuda says that the Maharam Ash (a talmid of he Chasam Sofer) would eat Matza, Maror, and a boiled egg on the night of the 15th of Iyar.

April 24, 2013 2:31 pm at 2:31 pm #948189zalmanParticipantthank you sam2; BTW, I don’t believe he meant it sincerely
April 24, 2013 3:44 pm at 3:44 pm #948190VogueMemberno. Why would you name a girl “Sheni”? That means second.
April 24, 2013 3:46 pm at 3:46 pm #948191🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantIt’s a nickname for Shana.
April 24, 2013 4:13 pm at 4:13 pm #948192bp27Participant“It’s a nickname for Shana” – which of course is itself a nickname for Shoshana.
And of course Shoshana is a translation from the Yiddish name Raizel.
Sounds more like Revii, not Sheini.
April 24, 2013 6:31 pm at 6:31 pm #948193BaalHaboozeParticipantmeh! I’ll take Shishi or Maftir
April 25, 2013 4:33 pm at 4:33 pm #948194Shticky GuyParticipantIt’s a nickname for Shana
Probably more of a nickname for Shaina which is a completely different name to Shoshana.
Overhead: Pesach Shainy is the day
that shows us that there is always a second chance…
April 25, 2013 4:35 pm at 4:35 pm #948195VogueMemberyup! LOL…
May 7, 2020 8:27 pm at 8:27 pm #1858580BaltimoreMavenParticipantThere is a minhag to eat Matzoh tonight there is a minhag to eat it tomorrow afternoon on Pesach Sheini by day. And there is another minhag to eat it tomorrow night, Motzoi Pesach Sheni.
