I’m looking into a phone which is at a pretty good rate per month. problem it only has 200mg data per month. I need the Internet on my phone, for skype, emails, what’s app ect?? And occasional browsing… How much does 200 mg allow for?? Anyone that uses the Internet for those things how much does it use up per month? How much is needed? Etc thanks for your help guys!!!

I think it would depend on where you are. According to issues with AT&T previously, there were people using 2-3 GB, which is more than 10 times what you’re being allowed. They say that 5% of their customers use this volume. But, if you are in the area where there are WiFi hotspots, then there is no limit on what you can use there. Do you have any previous usage records so you could have an idea what you currently use? What are the fees after you exceed your monthly limit? They usually escalate pretty quickly after that, so it’s sometimes better to get a somewhat bigger monthly free allowance rather than a low one and pay surcharges afterwards.

Currently I get to around 400-500 MB per month with limited usage:

    * 2 email accounts (private and work)

    * checking the news (several apps) on the way to and from work

    * checking the radar now and then (I like to know exactly when to expect rain)

No tethering, no Skype (via 3G), no Youtube (via 3G).

So if you’re planning on using Skype, you definitely don’t want to get stuck with 200 MB.

I have a 1 GB plan which allows me some freedom, but not much. Back in Israel I had unlimited which was way better, I loved the freedom it gave me to use my phone for anything I wanted without getting cut off or facing high costs.
