    Depends on many things-

    Age:

    Gender:

Amount of time spent and if it is interfering with normal life and responsibilities:

    Types of games:

    M or F?

    F, depends on the game.

M – waste of time. Question arises, isn’t the YWN CR a waste of time? The answer is “no”, because it’s useful – you become a little wiser from everything you read, you gain some more insight into the world and you sometimes pick up useful information. A game is usually completely useless, with no purpose other than to waste time.

Reading the news or editing Wikipedia or writing on the CR are much more useful activities than playing games. I can’t recall the last time I played a computer game. Video games I never touched at all.

If you do something you enjoy, that is not a waste of time.

crazybrit – Its simple, put <s trong> before the text you want bold. And </s trong> when your finished. Take away the space in between the s and t.

Troll coffee is good but make sure you strain out the spiky hair before serving.

I was just wondering the latest study shows 72% of American households play computer or video games The average game player age is: 37 18% under 18 years 53% 18-49 years 29% 50+ years AGE how many frum Jews play I have friends who are in Kolle who like to Play video games in their free time is it normal or are they the just wasting their time.

But I Think even more one must be careful of Pritzis that is ramped in Games I wish there was a Web Site detected to Frum Jews who understand the Standards of Frum Jews and rate the games accordingly.

I have a hard time believing that killing Nazis in a video game would even come close to being considered a the mitzvah of destroying amalek in general I think its better to stay away from violent games because everything you see has an effect on you and you become less sensitive to violence. But strategy games and sports games and the like would be ok as long as you are doing it in moderation and because you need a break. Also make sure you do not get into the game too much, for example by friend once threw something at someone because they accidentally blocked the screen which made him lose, the game is not real life and it is definitely not more important than a real person.

Waste of time? Are you kidding me? If it’s something you enjoy, how is it a waste of time? Can’t a guy have some downtime and just relax? Sheesh

I don’t think wars in Tanach are comparable to video games, we see by Yaakov aveinu before he fought Esav Rashi says that he was actually pained at the fact that he might have to hurt another person, showing that we would like to avoid violence at all costs but if someone is coming to kill us than we have no choice but to fight. However playing violent video games especially ones that try to make the blood and people look as real as possible doesnt seem like the best thing to do. Also I would be surprised if you could find a handful of people who even think about amalek when they are playing these video games.

Those who don’t play games don’t understand how fun they are and NOT a waste of time. I don’t think those non-gamers have the right to call other people’s hobby a waste of time.

    I’m with QB.

mordern, to answer your original question- I’m not sure what you are referring to when you say “the Frum community”, but many of my friends play games, and I’m quite a gamer, myself. I cannot answer if it is considered “normal” for a kollel guy to play games, but I would assume that most don’t.

And the kollel guys that do play probably won’t ask their Rosh kollel if it’s ok. 🙂

Spend less time playing video games and more time working on spelling and grammar. Have Rachmanus.
