I looked at the White House petition site and while there were multiple anti-Israel petitions getting thousands of signatures, there were no pro-Israel petitions relevant today. So I created one:

    https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/support-israel-unconditionally-whatever-it-needs-do-stop-hamas-terrorism-it-has-right-defend-itself/YXmChhNj

Please sign and spread the word. We need 150 signatures before it is even visible to the public; 100,000 signatures means the White House has to respond.

Your Torah and tefillah have more power than signatures on a petition. We need to run to our King above not to our politicians.

I signed one of those petitions to kick Justin Beiber out of the country, it had more than enough signatures for presidential review. Not sure what happened with that one.

@dial427463 – Aw, I remember hearing about that petition. Not sure why I never got around to signing it…. 😀

Good point, by the way – it is so much easier to take our concerns to the omnipresent King of the universe, not the human president of one country.

There’s no reason to kick JB out of the US. We have worse of our own, let alone one Canadian. Now to do the same thing the UK has done with Michael Savage, I’d sign in a flash. I think he’s more dangerous than Sandra fluke.

A good thing about a petition is that it shows the solidarity and support of the Jewish people. It doesn’t do much physically however, being that the president doesn’t care. We basically stand alone.

But we have each other and Hashem and that’s what counts. Lets continue to do what we can to help our brothers and sisters – We can bring redemption, may it come soon

    “already two open petitons”

Those are not about the Gaza War.

“all the people that are pro israel know that obama wont do anything for israel”

As long as the anti-Israel petitions have thousands more signatures than this one, yes, there is little incentive for Obama to do anything.

Currently the pro-Israel petition has 44 signatures. There are more than 44 people who regularly comment in this Coffee Room! Are there really that many Neturei Karta supporters here?

“The page said that I successfully signed it, but my initials didn’t show up.”

It sometimes takes some time. I think they must have used the same contractor that they used for the national Obamacare site.

I find it Ironic that someone who thinks the only problem with the NY Slimes is that they reported the WMD in Iraq and that they sold WQXR would ask us to sign a petition, allegedly in Support of Israel.

    nishtdayngesheft,

If your hatred of me is so great that you want to throw over five million Jews in Israel under the bus, you might want to reread why the second beit hamikdash was destroyed.

And if you think that the petition isn’t in support of Israel, either you have not read the text, or you don’t understand the English language.

Charlie, you’re welcome. Honestly, I’m skeptical about the value of White House petitions, but once it’s up, I figured I’d sign.

By the way, you were right, it took quite a few hours, but my signature is visible. I laughed at your line about the site being put up by the same people as the Obama Care site.

as long as Obama does whatever he wants the petitions are meaningless

believe me, if there was a petition to have Obama stop playing golf for the rest of his term, and it got 100,000 signatures he still wouldn’t stop

100,000 signatures means that he will have the pleasure of reviewing what Americans are complaining about today, not necessarily doing anything about it. Do you really think if 100,000 Americans sign a petition all will change? What is the percentage of 100,000 in the population of USA?

I’m kind of burnt out of these petitions. I plan to sign this one when I can figure out how to get into my account. But I’m really only doing it to make people (incl. Charlie) feel good about it.

Not only do they have no effect, Obama is too pathetic and cowardly to even validate anyone’s opinion by saying something like, “I understand why this is important to you, but I think these competing things are more important.”

    Charlie,

A bit arrogant are you, thinking that my dislike of your phoniness is throwing 5,000,000 Jews under the bus.

These petitions unfortunately mean less than nothing, look at the responses provided by this deplorable President and the White House to petitions that have received over 100,000 signatures.

BTW, you have no idea whether or not I did or did not sign. I have even stopped by rallies where Avi Weiss was, I just made sure to leave before he started talking.

My response was too harsh. I apologize.

But I still don’t like the fact that commenters here are trying to hijack this thread. I would have thought that supporting Israel would have been noncontroversial.

It takes two minutes of your time. Probably less than the amount of time it takes you to argue about whether or not it’s productive. Just sign the #$&@ thing. It can’t hurt and may help.

I signed it with pleasure, but all should know that this isn’t what is going to save our brothers and sisters in The Holy Land. It’s the mindset I disagree with, too many times do we run and blame others when we should be blaming ourselves and running to The One above. You are correct it may help but there is way too much emphasis on political matters than actual avodas Hashem. Anyone who believes in the Torah would agree that our tefillos can do anything!!!
