What are the Pros and Cons of Home Depot vs. Custom kitchens?
What’s the difference in price and quality between custom and Home Depot for an average sized kitchen (percentagewise)?
What are regrets of people who have gone either way? Lots of people spend a fortune on kitchens and have complaints.
How about Weisman Liquidators? How do they compare to Home Depot?
Can anyone recommend reasonable but good and reliable kitchen designers/installers? I think thats probably most important.

#2. you get whta you pay for – things yuou wouldn’t notice – like kitchen cabinet doors that rattle when banged shut, hinges and draws that come loose over time..
#3. many frum dealers coordinate the whole kitchen.. counters, plumbing etc.. which makes it easier..
#4. Frum kitchen peope have designers that understand frum nees.. adn will point things out to you and get you features that an average non jewish house would never think of..
Don’t know where you located.. but i have some good reccomendations in tristate area
May 17, 2011 3:41 pm at 3:41 pm #792072tomim tihyeMemberWe used Conrad (McDonald Ave & M/N) and were very pleased with the service. We paid $1700 for 2 formica counters, 5 door bottom cabinets, 3 door top cabinets.
Such a mechaye to work in a kitchen I really like!
Hatzlocha!
May 17, 2011 3:50 pm at 3:50 pm #792073My sister’s Home Depot kitchen looks nice and the deal was good.
However, the hinges are of a poor quality and she forever is ordering new parts which are sometimes a little different than the original. If you are trying to avoid agmas nefesh look around elsewhere and keep on asking. Hatzlocha Rabba and enjoy!
If you open any local phone directory you will find many kitchen places that are local. Remember, competition is good for the consumer!!!

May 17, 2011 5:02 pm at 5:02 pm #792075OfcourseMemberLeah 222, im in BP. Thanks!
A relative just put in an expensive custom kitchen with a local frum company and had nightmares one after another. They were slightly less money than the other kitchen places, but they have horrible customer service. Other people agreed with her (too late now).
Who is reasonable and reliable?
Unless I hear the same name over and over, I wouldnt take the chance.
Pesachtime lots of people put in new kitchens and now theyre probably starting to get a feeling of whether they chose well, as far as customer service.

May 18, 2011 5:07 am at 5:07 am #792077OfcourseMemberLeah222, how do they compare pricewise to places like Capital (BP) and Kentco (Will.)?
May 18, 2011 6:48 am at 6:48 am #792078estherhamalkaMemberWe used Capital Cabinets in BP. it was a number of years ago,but i distinctly remember that they were not the cheapest, but we went with them after hearing so many recommendations. They have an ABC system in which the A is the highest quality,B is of middle quality, and C is lowest. You can mix and match qualities on suchnthings as the actual type of wood for the cabinet(solid down to plywood),hinges and drawer mechanisms. I don’t remember what we chose, but I’m sure we didn’t do A all the way and there has been no problem to speak about. If you need quality as well as good looks and functionality,go with them! And,no,I don’t work for them!
