Today at the end of one of my classes, a student came up to me and congratulated me on being Jewish and announced tht Prof Dan Shechtman, an Israeli scientist had been awarded this year’s Nobel prize for chemistry. This makes him the 10th Israeli to win a Nobel prize amid countless Jews who have been awarded prizes over the decades. I felt very proud indeed, because a young Tamil ( Sri Lankan ethnic minority who have suffered terrible persecution) made a point of highlighting that yet again there is another Jewish winner of a Nobel Prize. We should be proud!

Funny how jews take up MAYBE one percent of the world population even today, and yet we stand out as one of THE ELITE in bettering the world. The incredible amounts of wisdom, discoveries, medicines, and inventions which jews are bringing to the world. Although there are SO MANY reasons for a jew to be proud who he/she is, you can’t help being proud when hearing this one too!
