Why is that sometimes when I post, even though my post is still awaiting moderation, it will show up on the homepage as the last post (my username won’t show up, but when it lists how long ago the last post was, it seems to be referring to mine), but other times it doesn’t?
Right now, there is at least one post of mine that isn’t listed.
March 19, 2017 10:18 am at 10:18 am #1238301LightbriteParticipantI wonder about the last post times too. Maybe someone else posted also so yours is not the last? I don’t understand it and would like a CR Guidebook to the Changes.
Also I would like to be able to edit my posts. I pray that this editing feature will return.

mean the last time at which a poster submitted a post to the thread.March 19, 2017 5:24 pm at 5:24 pm #1238795🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantI was wondering about that too. bleh, dont like change.
🙁
March 19, 2017 6:22 pm at 6:22 pm #1238839Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantFrom what I can tell, most of the time, the time listed refers to the last time someone posted even if it wasn’t moderated yet. You can see this when you post – the time will be 3 seconds ago (when you sent your post even though it wasn’t moderated yet), but the name listed will be the last moderated post which was actually an hour ago (for example).
My question was that even though most of the time it seems to work this way, there was one thread that I posted on, but the time listed was from the post before that (the last moderated post).
LB – that couldn’t be the answer, because the issue was that the time listed was from before my post. The funny thing was that you posted after that, so it listed the time of your post as the last time, but my time was skipped over :(. I was concerned that this meant my post was deleted, but it turned out that it wasn’t.
I think this happened on the “What would you do” thread if you were wondering.
March 19, 2017 7:56 pm at 7:56 pm #1238896🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantSomething is seriously wrong with the time stamp! I send things in and the stamp shows they were approved an hour into the future!
March 19, 2017 8:03 pm at 8:03 pm #1238901Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantThat’s because you’re in Chicago! By me, they are 6 hours behind.
March 19, 2017 8:47 pm at 8:47 pm #1238909JosephParticipantTimestamps are now always in Eastern Time. (Since that’s where most Yidden in chutz live.)
March 19, 2017 9:37 pm at 9:37 pm #1238924Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantThere are more Jews in EY than in the US and certainly than in the EST time zone.
However, I don’t think that’s the real reason. I think it’s because that’s where YWN is based.
It’s also probably where most of the readership (and posters) live.
I noticed that I think they now list the time as the time it’s moderated as opposed to the time it was written. Which is good because now no one will think I’m mechalel Shabbos chalila. Although they may think I’m Joseph.
March 19, 2017 9:38 pm at 9:38 pm #1238927Lilmod UlelamaidParticipant“Since that’s where most Yidden in chutz live.”
I didn’t realize you wrote “in chutz”. I had thought you had written “in the US”. If you’re including the entire chutz l’aretz, are you sure that’s true? How many American Jews live in EST time zone? And how many don’t? And how many Jews are there in other countries in chu”l? Remember, we are not just counting Frum Yidden, so there may be a lot more in other parts of the US than you realize.
March 21, 2017 8:51 pm at 8:51 pm #1241264ChortkovParticipantJosephs profile page claims he has only started 80 threads.
DaasYochid has apparently only started 16.
??
March 21, 2017 9:33 pm at 9:33 pm #1241288Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantMaybe DY doesn’t start threads that often. I don’t recall seeing so many threads started by him. Don’t know about Joseph, but in the old format, he had no posts.
March 21, 2017 9:58 pm at 9:58 pm #1241313Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantAnother weird thing – if you go back to the oldest threads, there is only one post (the op) per thread most of the time, if not all the time. And there are a lot of threads started by the Editor. He doesn’t seem to start too many threads nowadays.
March 21, 2017 10:21 pm at 10:21 pm #1241329JosephParticipantThe upgrade broke many old threads
Some of the old threads were broken into many multiple threads with the same title with the posts weirdly separated.May 4, 2017 8:22 pm at 8:22 pm #1270133Thinking allowedParticipantIs there still no way to completely edit or cancel a post to a thread? we used to have like 25 minutes.
Sometimes, I just need to see that my markups came out correct, and I can’t check that in my PC’s word processor. *Also, I have posted replies to the wrong comment, but once I hit send, there was
a. no way to edit what I wrote, and
b. no way to tell what comment I had replied to. Some of my posts don’t really make sense.*I know it looks like I never really posted before this week. (That is a different issue that came up when I tried to login to YWN a few weeks ago, and accidentally gave an email address associated with an old user name, and I didn’t realize until I started posting).*
Lastly, is there a way to re-order the posts temporarily, just on my screen, so I can see new posts to older comments on the thread? I think that’s a good idea! *
Also, not sure where to write this:
How to ask a question to the coffeeroom mods – whomever is currently modding – but not for posting publicly. *There is not presently a way to edit the posts after pressing send but we are hoping this will be restored.
a. See above b. If you quote a part of the post you are replying to or mention the poster by name it helps with continuity
We would be happy to get you in to your old account if you would like your original name back, let us know
Totally not in the cards.
Start off your post with something like, “PLEASE DO NOT POST” or “For Mods only”. We will read it and delete it. Including account info or to delete a mistaken post.
