Why is the pasuk “ma rabbu maasecha” omitted from the Shabbos morning “yotzair or”?

    #1917841

Because HAMEIR Laretytz is ommitted. The whole thing we say has to do with shabbos which is the day of rest. Hashem rested from creating the world.

Maybe, we don’t make kinyonim on shabbos. We become the kinyonim of Hashem by following His Torah over the week being his kinyonim on shabbos. The pasuk is teaching us to become kinyonim of His done over the week.

In Pirkei Avos (6,11) says that Yisroel is a kinyan. In Tehilim (104,23) it says before this pasuk yetzei adam lapaaalo laavodaso adei erev might refer to prayer done on the day of work, a week day as avoda is tefila through which we become the kinyan of Hashem.

We say Hameir laaretz vlaadorim aleho berachamim, Who lights up the earth and those who reside on it through mercy, referring to the Bnei Yisroel.

I found an answer on Otzar Hatefilos that on shabbos there is no maaseh but I have a problem with it as we mentiion it in Mizmor Shir Layom Hashabos, so I forced myself to give another explanation.

“Why is the pasuk “ma rabbu maasecha” omitted from the Shabbos morning “yotzair or”?”

That’s a very good question. It is missing, but only in Nusach Ashkenaz. Nusach Sefarad kept it in.
