    Tzvi Hirsh

Within a few hours after we started to pray for rain tonight a thunder storm started after not having rain since before Passover around 7 months ago.

Is this a miracle or not!!!!!!!

No, this is not a Nes, this is the way it should be.

the Gemarrah in Taanis says that if it would not rain on the night they started saying Vsen Tal Umatar, the Perushim would immediately begin to fast, only the Amei Haaretz would wait a month before beginnig to fast.

nevertheless, obviously klal yisroel must have zechusim since many here in Israel dont remember the last time it rained at all the night of starting to say tal umatar.

let us hope this is the beginning of geula and yeshua for everyone, each according to his needs and it should be a year of Shafa for everyone.

    Shabbat Shalom to all.

Mazal tov. IyH these tidings wil have at its heels the tidings of Moshiach

When did they start to ask for rain or snow in Monsey?

When did they start to ask for rain or snow in Monsey?

When it was hot, humid and 94% in July.?

in Yerushaliyim it rained once before Succot. For a short time there was a forecast of rein on the night of the first yom tov.

Please take note that we have not asked yet for rain. Bnei chutz lo’oretz only ask for rain in December and the bnei Eretz Yisroel ask on 7 of Chashvon.

All we did on Shmini Atzeres is hazkoras geshomim that HKBH is in charge of rain. We arent even akkowed to ask for anything until after the first three brochos of shmoino esrei.

    YakovL –

Technically you are correct. However, see Tosafos Bava Metzia 85b:

    ?????? ???? ?????? ???? ??? ???? ???? ????? ???? ???? ???? ???? ???? ????? ?????? ??

We had 20 inches of rain in August and It rained almost the entire succos.

    Basically it hasnt stopped raining

    I am sick of rain…..

In Israel we started to ask for rain last night and then it poured rain 3 hours latter for hours.

Only a few drops came down earlier in the year.

Yitay: That still only applies at a time where we actually ask for rain. The gemara is very clear that Mashiv Haruach without V’sein Tal U’Matar is never a request.

The tosfos is talking when ??? ??? ?????? which probably is after the zman of saying ??? ?? ????. As well ?????? ????? ?????? ???? ????? ???? as tosfos writes (??? ??.) that why ??????? ??’ ???? ????? . See the seifer(?????? ?? ??????”? ?? ????? ???’ ???? ???? (?????? ?”? that Rav Chiya asked Hashem to bring down the rain as soon as he would only be ????? , perhaps because of urgency in the delay of rain.

tzvideer- “No, this is not a Nes, this is the way it should be.”??

First of all “the way it should be” is a nes. Everything is orchestrated by HKB”H and to say that its nothing because thats the way it should be is wrong.

Secondly, as you said, the majority of the past ten years have been terrible rain seasons. So yes, this is something to note and to thank Hashem for.

of course i agree with you, we must thank Hashem for the rain that we need so much, especially since thge last number of years have been so difficult.

nevertheless, what is a Nes? breathing is a Nes, eating is a Nes, so is going to the batrooom, so is talking, so is seeing, the list is endless!!!

but what qualifies being a ‘Nes’ that we refer to it as such?? raining is a natural phenomenom that we dont usually see as a nes and that is what i meant in my comment.

but to give thanks to Hashem, to sing his praises for the rain that we need here so much!! definitly!!! every minute of the day!!!

YakovL –The OP is talking about “we” in Eretz Yisroel, who DID start to ask for rain Thursday night at Maariv — the night of the 7th of Cheshvan. That same night there was the first significant rainfall of the year (there was one brief rain before Sukkos, but that was it, despite a few times when the forecast predicted more.) It also continued to rain here in Eretz Yisroel over Shabbos, B”H!

Zehavasdad — That is the difference between Eretz Yisroel and NY. Here every drop is viewed as a Bracha, while in NY it is just a nuisance!

I don’t want to be pessimistic, but remember that last year immediately after 7 Cheshvan there was also a rainfall — but then we had no more rain until the end of Kislev. So although I agree that this seems like a great siman Bracha, make sure to keep up your Kavana in vsain tal — halevai this should continue all winter!

it’s unbelievable how NO ONE complains about the rain in e”y. they learned to gain an appreciation for it. zahavasdad – you should think about it. i agree the rain has affects (especially on my mood) but what would we do without it????????????????
