Could someone tell me a bit more about Rav Reuven Margolis? I only recently discovered his works, and am really interested as to why its not learnt in the yeshivishe veld? Also, just some more information on him.

Also, about his sefer shem olam, if the gemorrah could not solve who said what, how could he?

    calling PAA to the room

My guess is because he was a zionist. Its a shame that people ignore him because of that as his seforim are fantastic.

What exactly fo you mean by “learnt in yeshivos”? They are very nice and useful but it’s not the kind you sit down to learn. I think the idea of solving the Chad Amars is that each piece was taught separately and not necessarily was the Baal Hamaamar aware of the other Gemara which holds the key. Anyhow out is not a definitive statement saying that now the search had ended. It is ?????? ???? ????????.

    Wow. I am extremely flattered.

As for R’ Margolios, I don’t claim to know that much about his seforim, although I have seen it posited that he utilizes a somewhat academic style. The only one of his seforim that I have ever really used is his commentary on Shulchan Aruch and all I can say about that is that his bekius is astounding. And it has a haskama from R’ Kook, which might answer the original question.

He uses a very academic (“Maskilish”) approach, which is the same reason why some avoid the Tiferes Yisrael, among others.

Also, he is willing to point out when typos in Rishonim or poor Girsaos in old Midrashei Chazal led to errors, which some people don’t like.
